HASSAN'S POV:

CHAPTER 27 -  The Missing.

"What are you playing at?" I hissed "You didn't tell me that girl that you murdered is connected to Mariam and Daniel's family."

"Don't speak to me in that atrocious tone of voice." Conrad shot back as though venom was spewing out of his words "Don't you dare. You got money out of this. You're just as bad as me so don't even think about playing the role of a goody two shoes now. It's too late. You're a murderer."

"I'm not a murder!" I shrieked then tried to keep my voice down again when I realised I was stood outside of Mariam's house "You killed her and I really needed that money. I only buried her, okay?" I stated trying to make myself feel better.

"You try to blab and I swear to God, I will make you regret it for the rest of your life." he challenged and then paused when he was sure he had me on a tight leash "Don't forget about the drug deal you carried out for me on Friday either. You know what I'm capable of so you better keep your mouth shut." he stated harshly and then hung up the phone as though he was confident I wouldn't speak.

I was so ashamed of myself and felt so stupid because I should've known better. I should've known that Conrad was trying to get back at Mariam and everything and everyone who was dear to her. He wanted her dead and I had to protect her but how? I wasn't allowed to just sweep in and protect her without a full and detailed description of why she's in danger and that I am possibly the reason why she's in even more grave trouble.

No, I had to keep quiet or Conrad would come after me. You're selfish another voice stated in my head and I bowed my head and ran my fingers through my hair in irritation. What was I going to do?

"Hey, honey. What's up?" I looked up and saw Maya standing in front of me with a grin plastered on her face as usual that displayed the dimple on her left cheek.

"I'm fine." I stated quietly.

She shot me a bewildered and confused expression that hinted that she didn't believe me for one second. I couldn't be dealing with a suspicious Maya right now that would just be the cherry topping on an already disastrous situation. "Just a little tired." I added and she simpy smiled.

"Okay, well Daniel's arriving soon and everyone is waiting for us so let's go back in."

"Okay." I agreed and followed behind her briskly and silently. Daniel wasn't good enough for Mariam. Why couldn't he just disappear? I thought to myself darkly. Mariam was supposed to be with me. I was sure of it.As we continued to walk along towards the house, I saw a sign hanging on a tree that read "Local girl still missing. If you read this and know where this girl is please dial the number below. Her family miss her so please help us bring her back."

I bit my lip until it began bleeding as the girl from my dream who tried to throw me off the cliff stared back at me with the long blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. I just buried Daniel's ex girlfriend. Hassan, what have you done? I thought to myself wiping the blood away from my lips before Maya noticed as we walked back into the house and as I pretended that I was a normal innocent human being.

Mariam's POV:

"Okay, everyone take your seats we got about 2 minutes before Daniel arrives."

"Daniel?" my father furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "Yeah..." I replied back slowly unsure of what he was trying to say. "Name sounds familiar that's all." he stated simply while wearing a meaningful expression. I sighed heavily "I don't think so." I replied back quickly and hoped my father didn't make the connection that the guy who was about to be standing in our house with welcome arms was the same guy with the psychopath for an ex father who tried to kill me.
