Chapter 17 - The Wedding & The Unexpected Visit.

Mariam's POV:

My mind raced at three thousand miles as I recalled the dream I had of Daniel yesterday, I dreamed that he was in a maze that was completely closed in and he couldn't escape and he was pleading for help. Although, I knew I was asleep my heart still ached as I kept thinking about the dream over and over again. I woke up with sweat trickling down my face and all the way down to my back and there and then, I needed to make sure he was okay. I punched his number into my mobile phone and then hung up not being able to handle if the mysterious woman with the girly voice answered the call again. It seemed so real but it was just a dream right? It was fiction not reality.

I sent him my first and final love letter.

It was his call now.

Walking briskly behind my sister, trying to keep up with her fast pace down the stairs and tugging on her dress as she walked down the steps I couldn't be more happy for her. Ahmed stood next to her with his arm neatly tucked around her waist and looked like the most happy guy on earth. It was set to be a perfect night - if only I could get Daniel out of my thoughts. Her white dress was in a princess style shape and a heart shaped cut at the front and hugged on to her pear shaped figure perfectly. The silver sparkles matched her jewellery and made her look breathtaking and no-one, even if they tried, could upstage her tonight. The look in her eyes as she stared at her husband was one of pure adoration and love. She wore an excited expression and her cheeks were warm with blushing as everyone gushed that "she was the most beautiful bride they've ever seen!"

I couldn't help but feel frantic and anxious knowing how clumsy I could be when I was walking around in high heels and a long dress - I'd be lucky If I didn't fall flat on my face and consequently become a laughing stock. The high pitched music was incredibly high and pounding which was made worse by the squealing young women who were clapping as my sister and her newly wed husband entered the room. My sister looked back at me and whispered "I'm scared."

Mass crowds of people gathered around and circled around her while clapping loudly and she looked as though she would faint with all the attention that was completely fixed and directed on her. I gave her an encouraging and exuberant smile which I hoped would help her worries and frightened expression fade away.Earlier that day was spent at the hairdressers receiving all sorts of beauty treatments. My hair was completely done up in a stylish bun and I had a red rose in my hair and wore gold jewellery decorated with hearts on my ears, neck and hands.I was wearing a red bridesmaids' dress to correspond with my sister's venue colour plan which was red & black. I'd invited Hassan & Maya to the wedding as I felt it was rude not to.

Hassan stood at the corner of the room next to Maya who looked glamorous and was laughing with a graceful expression on her face. On the other hand, Hassan stood sipping on a can of coke and gave her a cautious and disturbed look and then walked over to the buffet to help himself to an abundant and substantial amount of food.

"This is great!" Maya gushed excitedly "I know, right? I'm so happy for her."

Maya playfully nudged me and winked "One day it will be you. The beautiful bride with her handsome husband in tow."

My eyes suddenly began to well up with tears as I  felt a pang of jealousy and my heart ached as I realised that I would probably never get my happy ending.I didn't tell Maya about Daniel as it didn't feel right just yet as I was a private person who usually kept her darkest secrets to herself.
