KISS ASS

≫   ≫   ≫

L A W R E N C E ' S  P O V :

"I should be going," she whispers, a few moments after we finish talking.

"Stay," I mumble, resting my head in the crook of her neck, basking in the vibrations of her body shuddering. The chills I'm giving her.

"I can't. We have class. How do you m-manage to ditch so often without failing, Lawrence?" She looks at me, and then, after answering her own question, she shakes her head, "Right, I bet your parents pay – Forget I said that,"

I hate the way that she looked at me after her realization. As though we were so different, as though I wasn't even on the same world as her. But I am, and I hate that she thinks so different of me just because my parents have a few more zeroes on the end of their pay checks than her own.

It's funny how dividing money is. The one thing that every country has, that everyone in a country uses, is the one thing that tears us all apart, ironic.

I grab for Fawn's arm again, but her flesh is no longer there, instead, the girl is slipping through the door behind her unnoticeably. It's one of the things I can't seem to figure out, but she's so very good at – being left unnoticed.

I run my hands through my hair frustratedly at her just leaving. No goodbye, not even a warning, just a crack in the door she escaped from to let me know she was ever really here, and not a figment of my imagination.

Huffing, I grab my bag and decide that I am going to go to class.
I'm going to show Fawn, just how alike we are.

Escaping through the doorway, all eyes turn to me the suspicious glares following me down the hallway and up to the third floor. Into Mr Jeffery's room, and down to my desk in the center of the classroom.

The bell rings a few seconds later, and I sit. God, it felt like I sat their forever before he came in with his fancy briefcase, and balding head.

"Hello class!" He yells far too loud for a classroom of people who are sitting somewhere within three and twelve feet him. A few daring students moved to rub their ears as a joke which lead to a few laughs, and a scolding from the deafening man. In a way – I began to admire him. The epitome of a cranky old man.

"You – you decided to show up?" He asks, directing his attention to me.

I nod my head, and smile, "Gotta love Physics,"

"Kiss ass," someone mumbles under their breath, and I turn around to find Elliott Mass, neighbor of Fawn, eyes daring me to address his comment – urging me to try. To fail. I turn back around slowly, and find the teacher already talking about something I don't give a shit about.

"So, let's get into groups!" I perk up.

"First group is Matthew, Kelly, Lauren, and Daniel. Second Group is Hannah – " I loose interest, only to hear my name a minute later, " Fourth Group is Hazel, Elliott, Maya, and Lawrence." My fingers grip onto the sides of my desk and I'm tempted to pound my head on the hard surface but restrain myself.

I look behind me, and see nothing but an evil smirk plastered onto Mass' face, "Gotta problem? Cause the teacher is right over there, and could use a good old fashion suck-up." I smile back dryly. What's up his ass?
