He was so desperate for pills that he searched every drawer in his parent's room
What he found in one of his dad's drawers would change his life forever, but he didn't know that yet
He sleeves his prescription pills whenever he possibly could so that he could crush and snort them, but the hidden treasure his dad was hiding from him gave him a new way to ingest the pills
-
Pouring all the pill's beads into water, he went and retrieved the object from his dad's drawer
He poured the dissolved contents of the pill into a spoon
He tapped his arm to make the veins come to the surface
What he had found was a needle
He pulled some of the drugs into the syringe and took a deep breath
He needed a way out of this ridiculously sad, outrageously uneventful life
It was disappointing that he needed drugs to give him artificial happiness, because feeling true happiness was a rare occurrence for him
-
He was on the couch upstairs
It had been half an hour since he IV'd the pill
He was starting to obsess over how he could obtain more needles and sleeve more pills because he most definitely needed to feel the drugs enter his veins again and again and again
-
An hour after the drugs were injected into his system, he was thinking about how he had researched how to inject pills. He had also found websites about the dangers of intravenously ingesting pills
It worried him. It worried him how when he first saw the needle, he thought of IVing pills. It worried him how he read about the dangers of injecting pills, but didn't think anything of it. "None of these bad things will happen to me." It worried him how once he had made up his mind on IVing the pill, no one could alter his mindset. It worried him how he didn't know who he was anymore ever since he started abusing his prescription. "Who am I? Am I still me?"
-
He wanted to stop abusing his prescription, but he didn't know how
People offered to help him and he accepted their help, but they couldn't change his mind once he was set on obtaining drugs
"What do I do? I can't get out of this. I can't get out of my head."
-
"What other things can I do besides for crushing pills?"
"Do, Not. Change. A. Thing. Continue what you're doing."
"But I'm upsetting my family and my close friends. I need to stop."
"By choosing to snort the first line, you chose me over your family without knowing it. You signed a contract for me. The contract says that you give up your life for me; I guess you didn't read the fine print."
"I want out of the contract. Get. Me. Out."
"The only way out is death."

His mother found the boy in his room, slumped over in a chair
She tapped his shoulder, expecting him to wake up
She shook the boy, and his body fell on the floor
She couldn't dial 911 fast enough
The paramedics arrived, but the boy was too far gone
They found a spoon and a needle on the desk his corpse was resting on
His arms were riddled with track marks
-
"I have stolen another life, and I will never stop taking everything you love right out from under you."
