Looking back in my room, making sure I didn't forget anything, I couldn't help but let some tears fall. My childhood memories were in this room, in this house. I honestly didn't want to move, but my mom got a new job out in Michigan in a small town. Sure, I'm going to miss my sunny state California, friends, softball team, and believe it or not even my school, but my mom has given up a lot for me. I figured it's time to put in work and make some changes for her too. Ever since my dad died a year ago, she has wanted to leave, because of all the memories we have of my dad in this town. She wouldn't though because I couldn't leave my dad here. After a year she couldn't take it anymore and so now we're hitting the road to our new life. Being sixteen I figured I can do this for my mom, and this is one step of showing I can be mature. Walking to my bathroom to get my necessities, I stop to look in the mirror and smile. One memory that will never get taken away is how much I look like my dad. I have the same bright green eyes, and what my mom says is his cheeky smile. Even though I hate it I have his big ears something I really do love now. I also have his height considering I'm 5'7. Pretty tall for a girl right? Smiling at my features, a few tears start to fall.

"Angelique! Angelique!" I begin to hear my mom's voice.

  "Yeah mom?" I reply.

  "You ready to go?"

  "Yeah,Yeah I'll be right down."

Quickly wiping the tears away, I grab the last of my bags and run down the stairs.

"It's about time! Get in the car! We're going to miss our flight! Hurry!"

Laughing at my Mon I run to the front seat. I plug in my earphones and fall asleep. A two hour car ride later and we're finally at LAX. After all our luggage is on the plane me and my mom grabs my hand.

She looks at me and smiles saying "Ready?"

I smile and say "As ready as I'll every be."

Since my dad died that has been our little saying. It pretty much states our love for eachother.

Walking to our seats I couldn't help but think of everything and everyone I'm leaving behind. I didn't tell anyone because it would've been to hard to say goodbye. My friends and softball team will be mad, but here's hoping they get over it.

At our seats my mom begins to talk but I kind of ignore her and think about how lucky I am to have such a wonderful strong woman as a mom. My mom loves to ramble and before she can continue I cut her off with our saying.

    "Ready for our new life?"

She smiles knowing I wanted her to stop bit nonetheless replies with "As ready as I'll ever be!"

I grab my phone out plug in my earphones and begin to think. Think about my new life and how my old life is going to end.
