You were focused, skillfully balancing two trays full of sweets, tea and coffee as you made your way up the stairs.

Working for a billionaire wouldn't be so bad if it didn't happen to be that your master was a asshole.

That being the case you always made sure to be extra careful when doing jobs.

"I brought you refreshments master!" You call, bumping the door open with your hip and entering the lavish office.

The man looked up from his desk, taking the moment to give you a judging look. For him, everything must be perfect or he would yell at you.

Carefully you set down the treys at his desk, bowing slightly you began to walk out when your master interrupted you.

"(Y/N)!" He snapped, "I have a new artifact arriving tomorrow. When it arrives i'd like you to take it down to my gallery."

"Of coarse master. Will you be out tomorrow?" You ask politely.

He nodded curtly before motioning for you to leave.

'A new artifact....' You thought, absently cleaning the house as you waited around. Being as wealthy as he was he used his money to buy old artifacts from the crisis several years ago for his gallery.

The knock on the door rose you from your thoughts you quickly hop to the door. After an awkward conversation with the men delivering the artifact you stood alone on the front patio with a massive box.

You wondered what your master had bought this time. Maybe a cash of old weapons, or other fancy tech.

You let your thoughts wonder to what could possibly be in the box and you managed to maneuver it into the house.

Humming to yourself you search for something that would make your job of moving the giant box to the gallery easier when suddenly a series of beeps sounded from inside the box.

You froze, holding your breath and listening. A few moments passed in complete silence before more beeps and whirls came from the box. Whatever was in that box, it was on, and active.

You grab the nearest thing you could find that might serve as a weapon, which happened to be your trusty mop, and slowly approach the box.

You carefully push the lid of the box up just enough to see in. You couldn't make out much in the dark cavern until suddenly a shining blue light appeared in front of you.

Yelping in surprise you stumble back, the thing inside the box bumping around with a chorus of almost panicked sounding beeps and clicks.

Confused, you once again approach the box, cautiously removing the lid and peering in.

Huddled in the corner of the box was a robot, and a large robot at that. His(?) metal severely rusted and damaged, sprouting a variety of grasses and shrubs, you even saw several birds nests stuck to him.

You but your lip, knowing that this robot was probably one that devastated humanity all those years ago. Awkwardly you study the robot.

His head peeked out, tilting to one side as if he was studying you. Not knowing what else to do you mimic the robot's movements, tilting your head to one side.

In response the robot beeped happily, unfolding itself from the corner and giving you a better look at it.

Now able to see it fully you could recognize him as one of the old Bastion units, but to your knowledge they had all been destroyed. Why was this one-

Suddenly you realized the robot right in front of your face. Squeaking in surprise you jump back, causing a series of happy beeps and whirls from the Bastion.

"You can't just sneak up on people like that!" You pout, glaring slightly at the robot. To your surprise it almost cowered, giving you the robotic version of a kicked puppy look.

You couldn't help but feel bad for the poor robot, taken from wherever it had come from, shoved into a box, and now getting yelled at by some girl it didn't know.

Your gaze softened, "I'm sorry," you couldn't help but gently pat the robot's head. He made a whirling sound that almost sounded apologetic. "I'm
(Y/N)," you say, wondering briefly if the Bastion could even understand you.

Bastion responded with several beeps, his bouncing movements making his metal frame clank loudly. You giggle, finding something almost cute about the innocent robot.

Birds chirped in the background and suddenly the Bastion jerked up, surprising you. He raised his head as if listening before grabbing your hand and dragging you off.

"H-hey! Where are you taking me?!" You cry, attempting to pry your hand out of his strong grip.

He didn't respond or seem to even react to you, you cursed yourself for believing for a second that a robot could be anything but cold a heartless.

Bastion pulled you out past the well kept garden and into the trees where he stopped, letting go of your hand.

Several seconds past leaving you to question what was going on in that robot's head, if anything.

After a while you heard a bird chirp loudly, descending from the trees and landing on the Bastion's hand.

Which a few happy whirls the Bastion held out his hand to you, letting you see the bird up close.

You were shocked, had this been what he had wanted? To show you the birds?

Your silence seemed to make Bastion uncomfortable, he produced a few sounds that bordered on concern.

You couldn't help but smile at him, "You like birds huh?" You ask gently.

Happily, Bastion rattled and beeped. The two of you spent the next few hours outside, you would show him different plants and animals in the garden and he would follow you around, curious about everything.

When finally you check the time it hit you that your master would be home soon. Quickly you ushered Bastion to the gallery, showing him to the spot your master had made for him.

"Alright Bastion, my master is going to be home soon and he wants you to stand still right there. Ok?"

Bastion made several confused beeps, carefully stepping onto the platform before looking at you.

Giggling, you pat him on the head again, "Now stay right there!"

Bastion made almost a whining sound as you began to walk away.

"Don't worry," you give him a reassuring smile. "I'll come back tomorrow and we can watch more birds together, ok?"

Bastion seemed to think for a moment before beeping affirmatively.

"Alright!" You smile, making your way to the door. One last time you look over your shoulder, smiling at Bastion. "See you tomorrow!" You grin.

A/N: sorry if this one isn't very good... I'm thinking about making an art book... Does anyone what to see all the useless stuff I draw?
