It's not you it's me

You asked me if I loved you,
and I said yes because I did.
You asked me if I'd die for you,
and I said yes because I would.

You asked me if I'd live for you,
and oh god I couldn't tell you yes,
because I could live in spite of you,
because I should only live for me.

It would be easier to die for you,
just an excuse for a romantic end,
but I couldn't tell you I'd do it anyway,
that if not for you, later I'd do it for me.

I meant it when I said I loved you,
because heaven knows I care for you,
and I will be with you till the end,
because you're the only one for me.
