He only spilled his secrets when smoke left his lips after them,
Said he had one lover in California, the other in Miami.

He only lied when his breath didn't smell of whiskey,
He only ever loved himself, he told me.

He only called me after midnight when his voice slurred,
Saying how much he wished he could come to me.

He only whispered in my ear when his mind was as foggy as his room,
About the things he wanted to do with me.

He only loved me after 3 am,
When I was asleep and so was he.
