Chapter Twenty-Nine

{~Vera~}

Seraphina stood up and raised her glass along with a fork and clinked it together.

"Hey, hey, hey! I'd like to give a speech on the behalf of my brother." She said and smiled down at him. I looked over at him and grabbed his hand.

"Sera, don't embarrass me at my wedding reception." Zebastian warned. Everyone laughed.

"Oh, brother." She said and waved him off. "I'm really happy for him. If I start to cry or anything, just know it's because he's come so far. As every single one of us knows, Zebastian wasn't always warm hearted and caring. He was cold and hard. He was all about the safety of his kingdom. Then he met Vera.... We all love Vera, we loved her as a Human girl and we love her as a Goddess. Because of her we're able to experience the new Zebastian. The Zebastian that does actually give a shit, pardon my French. Treat her right, Zebastian, she's not just important to you, you know." Eryx stood up and wiped her tears away with his thumbs and kissed her cheek. They were so cute together. She laughed a little. "I'm happy for you, and I know mom and dad are. I'm glad I had you growing up." Everyone applauded.

The wedding reception had just begun, and it was extremely joyous. Everyone was happy. My friends were here and Zebastian's friends and family were here. Lucian eyes sparkled as he took in the surroundings. Azrael and Evangelica came up to us.

"So, are we keeping Lucian while you're away at your honeymoon?" Evangelica said with a bright smile.

"I don't see why not." I said returning the gesture. "Zebastian's the one who opposes."

"Because he'll get spoiled." Zebastian whined. "I don't want to spoil him."

"I won't get spoiled, daddy." Lucian said smiling. "I'll be a good boy, I promise." I turned to Zebastian with a raised brow. Zebastian just sighed.

"A negotiator, like his father." I said.

"Cunning, like his mother, you mean." Zebastian countered. "Yes, yes you may keep him while we are away." I smiled and kissed him on the cheek.

"This is good for him." I reassured.

Just then, beautiful soft music began to play. Zebastian stood up and everyone else sat down. Zebastian extended his hand to me and I looked at him wide-eyed.

"What?" I asked.

"We have to dance, wife." Zebastian said with a smirk. Uh, I'm not too sure about this dancing. "Come, come."

I took his hand and he gently pulled me up and guided me to the floor. There was so much space, then again everyone was sitting down. I felt my heart racing and heard a chuckle from Zebastian in response.

"Relax." He breathed. "You're a Goddess, you can do anything."

I nodded and he stopped. He turned to me and took my hand, then held my waist delicately. He then smiled at me and began to glide gracefully over the floor. Zebastian can ballroom dance?! What?!

"Not once have you ever told me you could dance." I grumbled.

"I'm a Lord if I don't know how to dance then I'm a measly lowlife with abnormal abilities. I'm a great dancer, Vera." Zebastian grinned. "Naturally." I rolled my eyes.

"Don't get cocky at our wedding." I warned.

He spun me out then pulled me back and dipped me low. Man, he really was good though. Then we continued gliding. It was just so fluid, so flawless, I couldn't help but feel the joy course through me.

"This is amazing." I said looking into his eyes, they were dark. "What's wrong?"

"Why must you always think something's wrong when my eyes are dark, Vera? I'm happy, I'm hungry, I'm aroused, I'm in love. Nothing could possibly be wrong here." He reassured. "Now, stop worrying so much and enjoy yourself. This is a union. This is a moment of a life time."

A blush flooded my cheeks at his words. "When'd you become such a romantic?"

"I'd have to say the first night I watched you sleep." He said with a smile. "You were so cute, small, weak, and you snored." I scoffed and he laughed. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. You're a silent sleeper."

"Snore? Pfft. I don't snore." I grumbled.

"Oh, baby, you've got to put insecurities aside." He said as the music came to a close. "You're perfect."

Like the cliche guy Zebastian is he pulled me to him and kissed me on the last note. There was a round of applause from everyone at the reception. I pulled away from Zebastian and just looked at him.

"How did I get so lucky?" I asked him. He smiled and caressed my cheek.

"It's the other way around." He murmured. "I love you Vera, and I'll always love you. No matter how many times you turn your back and walk out on me I will still love you. You're the key to everything, my happiness, my emotions, my thoughts, everything. I can't live without you."

"You'll never have to, Zebastian. I have a million and one reasons to stay." I said softly and looked over at Lucian who was dancing with Sera. Zebastian smiled although it didn't reach his eyes, there was something on his mind. "What?"

"Later." He muttered. "I don't want you throwing a fit."

"What do you mean?" Now I really wanted to know.

"I'll tell you, I promise." He said with a nervous laugh. "Just promise me you won't do anything irrational."

"I can't make that promise."

"Then promise me you'll consider your options and my feelings."

"I promise." He smiled and pecked me. He opened his mouth to say something but was quickly interrupted by my lovely Women of Wonderland.

"Vera! You look so beautiful tonight I can't even fathom how much I adore you." Sasha said pulling me in a tight hug. Achilles, Beaumont, and Ike began to converse with Zebastian who kept his eyes on me.

"Thank you." I blushed. "I'm happy."

"Sweetie, we can tell." Nina said caressing my cheek. "I'm so happy you chose us to be your bridesmaids, that's a big deal."

"Especially considering how long we've known each other." Janet said

"You three were my first friends ever." I said feeling myself tear up. "I wouldn't put anyone else before you three."

"Aww, don't cry..." They said and pulled me into a group hug. Our love was short lived when Zebastian pulled me to him, worry etched on his face.

"What's wrong?" He asked concerned.

"Nothing, I'm reminiscing." I said laughing a little. Zebastian wiped my tears away with his thumb.

"Reminisce without tears, my lovely goddess." He murmured.

"You're always so worried about me." I pouted.

"It's my duty to you as a husband and as your god to be worried." I rolled my eyes.

"Only as my husband."

"God I love the way that sounds. Better than the sound of you calling me your Lord." I couldn't help but smile. This man knew how to lighten my mood instantly.

"I love you, Zebastian." I blurted out. Why was I feeling so cheesy tonight?

"Awwww." The girls chimed in unison. "So cute."

"Who would've thought The Lord of the Underworld would've fallen so hard?" Ramsey said with a chuckle.

"Oh, don't deny your affections for me as well." I countered. They put their hands up in surrender.

"You're a fine human gal, I'll give you that." Odin snickered. I beamed.

"So, Zebastian, what are we doing for our honeymoon?"

"If I told you that it wouldn't be much of a surprise, now would it?"

"Doesn't mean you can't tell me."

"It does."

"Does everyone else know?" I asked. They nodded. Wow, really, Zebastian? Not fair.

"Just know you'll love me more than you already do for it."

"Oh?"

"You will." Seraphina said as she swept the dance floor with Eryx.

"And what makes everyone so certain I'll love it?" I asked placing my hands on my hips. Zebastian grinned and spoke before anyone else could.

"One thing I'll always love about you is how you can prod information out of people. If we told you how we knew you'd love it, we'd be falling into your trap." Wow, no one's ever caught me in the middle of my attempt. I just scowled at Zebastian.

"Tell me, please?" I begged softly.

"Baby, just wait. Please, for me. I really put some thought into our honeymoon. I want you to be happy, happy that it was something that could've been easily forgotten. Okay? Just wait." His eyes were light and pleading. I caved.

"You make me so weak I can't stand it sometimes." I grumbled. Zebastian just pecked me.

"Good." He smiled and brushed a loose strand of hair out of my face. "You look incredible."

"Mind telling me that when we're alone on our honeymoon?" I asked with a grin. His eyes darkened.

"As you wish, my Lady."

Just then Zebastian's dad-err my dad came up to us with Evangelica on his arm. He beamed at the both of us, he was proud of his son, and he actually liked me.

"Mind if I steal the bride from you?" Azrael asked with a genuine smile.

"Just don't do anything I wouldn't do." Zebastian warned. I rolled my eyes. Zebastian took Evangelica by the hand and waist and began to dance with her to the soft tunes of the music. Azrael just stared at them before he looked at me.

"Shall we dance?" He asked. I nodded and took his hand as he gently took my waist. "I apologize if I ever came off as spiteful towards you."

"There's no need to apologize, you were only protecting your son's heart." I said softly.

"I didn't believe the boy had a heart until he met you." Azrael sighed. "I ruined his childhood."

"You didn't. This was meant to be. Now, had someone shown him love and affection when he were younger I'm sure he wouldn't have met me." Yeah, I would've ended up with Xephren.

"For such an Immortal, you're still so Human." He murmured.

"My humanity was the one thing Zebastian loved about me. How fragile I was, how delicate he had to be with me. It taught him tenderness, and care. He learned how to... love." I looked over at him as he danced happily with his mother. "Look at him, so happy now. I remember when everyone said Zebastian didn't have a smile. He laughs, he grins, he smiles, he loves. He's perfect. And it's because he fell in love with a weak, measly Human girl."

"Physically weak. Mentally and emotionally strong." Azrael corrected. "No one would dare to stand up to Zebastian, only you."

"I had nothing to fear. He wasn't my God. He was simply the man that chose me, and the man I became attached to. Hell, he was the first man to genuinely want me." I laughed. "I'm glad he chose me, I can't see myself with anyone else."

"He wouldn't have made it so you could've been with anyone else. Zebastian is very territorial."

"As am I." I smiled. "When I came back from Earth and saw him with Sapphyra, I lost it."

"With who?" Azrael asked. Oh. Shit.

"Some girl from Wonderland." I murmured. Well, at least it wasn't a lie.

"Huh, that's a surprise." Azrael muttered. The song came to a close and Azrael kissed my cheek before taking hold of his wife once more. Zebastian came back over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I just laid my head on his chest and stayed there. This man had no idea how happy he made me.

"You're glowing brighter than you have all night." Zebastian said softly. I looked up at him as he looked down at me. "You're not thinking too far into the future are you?"

"Zebastian, we have forever." I giggled. "I don't need to think about our future, let's just let it happen." Zebastian looked shocked for a second, then he grinned.

"Agreed." God he was beautiful. "So, our son has been awfully quiet, I wonder where he's gone."

Oh, right, Lucian. Zebastian took me by my hand as we surfed through all the people in search of our child.

"Oh, there." Zebastian murmured.

Lucian was sleep under someone's suit jacket. He was so cute, it was definitely a Kodak moment but I'm sure someone already caught the picture. Zebastian let go of me and picked Lucian up in his arms. Lucian buried his face in Zebastian's chest. It was so cute.

"Time for the big kid to go home." Zebastian said to me. I smiled in awe at how fatherly he was. I wonder if he'll be the same if we have another child. "What?"

"Nothing." I said with a blush. "Nothing at all, let's find your parents."

"Our, Vera, our parents." Zebastian corrected and carried Lucian to our parents that were talking to the boys. They all made noises of awe.

"Looks like your kid isn't ready for the nightlife yet." Li chuckled.

"Agreed." I said stroking Lucian's hair.

"Then it's a good thing we were planning to leave soon." Evangelica beamed. Azrael raised his brow.

"We were?" He asked. She narrowed her eyes at him. "I guess we were."

"Our grandson wasn't going to make it through the night, I knew that. And Zebastian and Vera aren't going on their honeymoon till their son is completely safe and sound in a bed. He's had a long night, he'll see you two in a few weeks." Evangelica said and kissed our cheeks. "Congratulations and have fun you two."

"Thanks, mom." Zebastian and I said in unison. We both chuckled. I nudged him.

"Well, while on your honeymoon, don't do anything your mother and I wouldn't do." Azrael warned Zebastian and I.

"What? Like knock Vera up?" Zebastian joked.

"Preferably." Azrael said seriousness in his tone. "But I won't regulate what you do. Just have fun and stay safe." He gave me a hug and a kiss, and have Zebastian a long hug. "I probably never told you this, Zebastian, but you mean the world to me." Zebastian choked up.

"Thanks, dad." He whispered. Azrael nodded and took Lucian out of Zebastian's hands then left. Odin, Eryx, Li, and Ramsey all had wide eyed expressions.

"Did Azrael indirectly say he loved you?" Eryx whispered in shock.

"I think so." Zebastian murmured. I looked up at him.

"Big deal, huh." I asked. He gave me a soft smile.

"Very."

We spent most of the night talking, dancing, drinking, making toasts and reminiscing. The night was glorious, but it was now time for us to go. Everyone followed us out. I got to throw my bouquet, ironically enough Adam caught it, almost all of the women were over him.

"Good for Adam, he needs love in his life." Zebastian said softly. I smiled up at Zebastian.

"Where to?"

"Our honeymoon, now close your eyes." He said.

"Alright, fine." I said and closed my eyes. "Only cause I'm eager to know where we're going."

"Good, so you'll cooperate." I nodded. I felt soft fabric on my eyes and I knew I was being blindfolded.

"You shouldn't have to blindfold me." I grumbled.

"I planned on blindfolding you anyway." I could tell he was grinning. I rolled my eyes. "Now, you won't be able to hear anything for the next... I dunno, ten minutes or so." I could tell he was excited. Now I really want to know what it is.

"Alright." I said.

I heard silence, pure silence. I could feel a breeze. Then I felt nothing. Then I felt a somewhat cool breeze. Ten minutes felt like forever. Then I felt the ground beneath my feet. Soon after, I was able to hear. The sound of water rushing up to shore filled my ears, along with the sound of the wind blowing through the trees. I smelled the outdoor ocean scent and excitement rushed through me.

"Take the blindfold off." I whispered excited. I could feel Zebastian's nervousness radiating off of him. When the blindfold was off I just gasped.

The scenery was beautiful, breathtaking even. I was amazed. Yes, it was probably a typical honeymoon scenery. I was on an island, surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers. The house was glorious and perfect for a place like this. The ocean was at my feet, and I could watch the sun and moon rise and fall.

I turned to Zebastian who looked worried. Was he afraid I didn't like it?

"Zebastian, this is beautiful." I breathed feeling myself tear up. "This is absolutely beautiful."

"You really like it?" He asked with alarmed eyes.

"Like it? Like it? I love it. I've never been anywhere like this. I didn't know places like this existed in the Underworld."

"We're not in the Underworld." He whispered. Oh. My. God. My jaw dropped. "Oh, great."

"We're on Earth?" I asked.

"Aw, see, I knew we should've stayed in the Underworld. You're probably really paranoid about Lucian being there on his own with our parents. And maybe I should've asked you again, I mean the last time we talked about Earth you said you loved it and when I was talking to your friends they said you loved Earth so I wanted to do something special and you don't even like it." He rambled in one breath.

"Zebastian." I said softly cutting him off before he could ramble again. "You remembered?" He looked shocked.

"Of course I remember. I remember every second with you." He said offended.

"But it was so far back when we had that conversation. It wasn't even a long one, just a brief statement."

"Vera, it's what you wanted. It's always been what you wanted. But if you don't like this, we can go back."

"Go back?!" I asked baffled. "Zebastian, no! I love this, I love that you actually thought outside of the box, that you considered my feelings, that you remembered! I want to stay, and honestly right now I just want to make amazing love to you under the midnight moon for how romantic you've been."

"As inviting as that sounds, I still remembered my promise to you." Zebastian sighed. I looked at him confused, what promise?

"What?"

"You're, uh... you're pregnant." My face fell.

"I'm what?!"
