Chapter Thirty-One

{~Vera~}

Lucian didn't cry nearly as much as Saoirse. Surprisingly I had more tolerance for it than Zebastian did. Lucian found her annoying when she cried, but he loved her to death.

"I swear I hate diapers." Zebastian grumbled as he gently rocked Saoirse to sleep. I couldn't help but giggle.

"Image, I'm the one who changed all of Lucian's diapers." Lucian looked up at me from my lap. His eyes were bright and blue.

I think he envied Saoirse, Zebastian gave her a lot of attention. But she was beautiful. Her skin was white as snow, her eyes were a very light bluish gray, her hair was platinum blonde, she looked like an Angel. And I have no idea where she got her looks from. She looks nothing like me or Zebastian.

"Mommy, was I as annoying as Saoirse is?" He asked me softly. I tapped his nose.

"She's not annoying, honey, she's a baby. This is what babies do." I smiled. I picked him up and smothered him in kisses while he laughed and squirmed underneath me.

"Can I sleep in here tonight?" Lucian asked sweetly. I looked up at Zebastian who pouted.

"Not tonight kiddo, but tomorrow night-definitely." Zebastian said.

I got up and Zebastian handed me Saoirse, she instantly became quiet and stared at me in awe. Her eyes were wide and her mouth was open, she then grinned and gave me a baby laugh. I looked up at Zebastian whose jaw had fallen. I kissed Saoirse's forehead and put her in her crib. She needed to go to bed.

"Saoirse, time for bed, Angel." I cooed. "Go to sleep."

She opened her hands and kicked her feet, then made a few unintelligible sounds before she slowly began to fall asleep. When I looked up Zebastian was throwing Lucian in the air. Saoirse was only a few months old and I was already pregnant again.

"Shh." I said to them. "Finally got the girl to sleep."

"Alright, kiddo, time for bed." Zebastian said to Lucian. "I'll be right back, babe."

He tossed Lucian over his shoulder and carried him out of our bedroom. Zebastian typically was the one who bathed and tucked him in. It was hard to pull Zebastian and Lucian apart. I stroked Saoirse's soft hair while she slept. God, she's beautiful. She wasn't difficult for me, and I don't know if it's because she senses good and evil or what. But typically she only likes Zebastian when he gives her food. Other than that, she's always crying around him. But she's really quiet and happy around me. It really hurt Zebastian's feelings, because he felt like she didn't like him, and that's his biggest fear-his kids won't like him.

I sighed. "You love your daddy don't you?" I murmured.

I knew she did, I mean how could anyone hate Zebastian? He's beautiful, sweet, caring, protective, funny and generous. Hell, he's come a long way from what everyone says.

I got up and put my jammies on and crawled into bed. Zebastian came in and closed the door behind him. He just smiled at me.

"Kids are sleep." He said wiggling his eyebrows. "You thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Zebastian, we can't. Saoirse will wake up." I scolded. Zebastian scoffed and flopped on the bed. He crawled on top of me.

"Saoirse is a deep sleeper, she only wakes up when she shits on herself." Zebastian said nuzzling my neck. I rolled my eyes. He grinned and pecked me before laying next to me. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me on his chest. "Since my wife complains that I don't cuddle her enough." I slapped his chest.

"I've only complained once, and that was on our honeymoon last year." I couldn't help but grin that he remembered. "Your good ass memory."

"Hell yeah. Believe it or not, that's what I wanted to do anyway. I'm quite exhausted." He murmured and ran his fingers through my hair. "These kids, Wonderland, the kingdom... so much work."

"This is what it's like." I told him with a small laughed.

"I love it." He smirked. "I'm never bored."

"You're doing better than I was." I said slightly jealous. "With an exception of Saoirse revolt."

"I think it's because of my dark energy." He murmured. "I scare her."

"She's still a baby, so don't worry." I said trying to reassure him. I was right, she was only a baby. Zebastian has all the time in the world to prove that he's not a monster to her.

"I know, I know." He sighed. "At least she let's me feed her."

He chuckled and I giggled then it was silent. All I could hear was the sound of Saoirse's steady breathing, Zebastian's breathing and heartbeat, and my own.

"Cuddling is weird." He murmured. "Why would anyone want to do this, it's awkwardly silent and it just makes me crave sex more."

"Cuddling is not weird, it's cute and romantic. You don't have to talk, you can enjoy each others silences. It's... peaceful, relaxing."

"I need a reliever." He grumbled.

"What you need is food." I said poking his chest. "When's the last time you fed?"

"This morning." He muttered. "But I'm completely fine, so I don't need to eat."

"I would prefer if you did." I said.

"I want to stay here, we don't have to have sex, just don't make me leave."

"Zebastian, I can't make you do anything. You control me, you own me, you are the head. I'm your woman, your wife, the mother of your children, I simply request things. I don't want you to leave this bed either, but I don't want you to starve yourself either. You do the same thing to me, so if you're hungry go eat." Zebastian just grinned at me.

"God, I love it when you give me lectures like that." I rolled my eyes and blushed. He caressed my cheeks. "I'll eat after you sleep, I promise." Zebastian was a man of his word.

"Alright, fine by me." I said and pecked him.

Zebastian moved so that my back was against his front and his hands were on my stomach. I still didn't understand this whole pregnancy thing. How can Zebastian see it and I can't?

"It's so amazing what the female body can do." Zebastian murmured in awe. "Life, that's got to be the ultimate gift."

"It's also amazing how painful giving life is." I grumbled. Zebastian nudged me.

"You can handle it. You've done it twice already."

"How many kids did you want anyway?" I asked.

"I never really thought about a specific number. I know I've always wanted more siblings as a child, but my parents stopped at three, so more than three."

"Four." I said. "That's all I think I can take."

"You can take more than that. Five." Zebastian said. "Five children, Lucian, Saoirse, Zaphrina, Maximilian, and Zebulon. There's no arguing with me on that one."

"You came up with those names off the top of your head?" I asked surprised.

"Yeah." He said surprised at himself. "I guess I did."

"Three boys and two girls?"

"The more the boys the easier it is to divide my duties up. I don't want Lucian and his brothers to be like me and Xephren. I want Lucian and his brothers to get along. Lucian will obviously have more authority and power than Max and Zebulon, but each of them will rule a section of the Underworld. Now, I don't know about you and how you feel on Saoirse and Zaphrina with power, but that's something that's up for discussion. I'd prefer if they knew what to do-worse comes to worse something happens and they rise to power-they need to know how to rule properly. No, I don't think they should completely have power, I'm not for women with power." Still sexist Zebastian. I looked up at him.

"I have power."

"Yet you admit that you are below me." He countered with a raised brow. "That would be a contradiction, my Lady. I want my girls to aid their men, to be of help as you are to me. I want their husbands to cherish them like I cherish you, that in it's own essence is power."

"Is that why your dad said that I was powerful?"

"Yes, because you are." He said softly. "It's such a paradoxical feeling, you make me weak and you give me strength beyond belief."

"It's nice to know I have some effect on you." I giggled.

"Mmm, yes." He said and stroked my stomach.

"Can you tell if it's a girl or a boy yet?" I asked. I felt him shake his head behind me.

"No. But I think it might be a boy, just a feeling I have." He was smiling. I nuzzled into him, finding complete comfort and peace. I wanted to stay up but I ended up dozing off.

"Ugh, it's so weird seeing you hold an infant." Eryx grumbled as he watched Zebastian successfully calm Saoirse down, probably because there was company over.

"You're one to judge." I countered. He rolled his eyes. Yeah, Papa Eryx.

"Where's the boy?" Li asked with a grin.

"He's taking a nap." I said and slid on the desk of Zebastian's study. I looked over at him and watched as he stared amazed at Saoirse's sleeping frame in his arms.

"Should I lay her down?" Zebastian whispered.

"I'll take her." I said and took Saoirse from Zebastian. I briskly and quietly made my way to our bedroom and set her in her crib then made my way back to the study.

"What's up? How's the wife, the kids?" I asked them knowing good and well that Eryx was the only one committed with kids. They rolled their eyes.

"Your wife has jokes, Zebastian." Ramsey said sarcastically.

"She's quite the comedian." Zebastian winked and pulled me over to him.

"So, another baby?" Odin asked nodding in the direction of my stomach. My eyes widened. "He spilled the beans."

"For newlyweds you guys sure aren't wasting any time." Eryx mumbled. I shrugged.

"Well, apparently all of this was planned, and I was just late on the memo." I explained. "Zebastian knows exactly how he wants everything to go, I'm simply following orders."

"Ooh, obeying Zebastian for once? Shocking!" Li laughed. I rolled my eyes.

"Agreed." Zebastian said. "Surprisingly enough Vera has agreed to go through these things without much of an argument, I must say if this is what it took for you to become obedient then I should've married you earlier."

"Zebastian!" I gasped.

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding." Yeah, sure.

"How's Wonderland coming along?" I asked.

"Quite fine. Are you still sure about the other part?" Ramsey asked.

"Yes." Zebastian said.

"Not really." I said crossing my arms. "I know, I just know some ugly whore is going to try to lurch at him."

"Get over it, Vera, Zebastian is a beloved man." Eryx said running a hand through his hair.

"And what if some man jumps on you?" Zebastian asked.

"Right, say some guy who rivals Zebastian comes to Wonderland and all he wants is you?" Li asked with his head cocked.

"I don't know why we're having this conversation. I'd be fine because Zebastian would've ripped the guy apart."

"I'm always late, Vera." He said lowly, pain in his voice. Why? Why of all things would he bring that up?

"That will never happen again, and it wasn't something you could've prevented." I said turning around to him. "I didn't want your help."

"Vera, I don't give a shit if you want it or need it. If some guy tries to attack you you need to defend yourself, not wait on me. As much as I love being your knight in shining armor, I'm living proof that they don't always come in time to save the damsel in distress. I don't ever want something like that happening to you, ever again. And I mean ever." Zebastian scolded. His eyes were ablaze and dark. He was serious. I didn't know what to say, really. "And if you do just so happen to fall for another... at least let me keep the kids. That's all I would want."

"Zebastian, I'll never leave you." I promised. "I made that clear when I accepted your proposal. This-" I lifted up my gorgeous, Kalder-crafted wedding ring and engagement ring-"reminds me that I'm yours, forever. And that I want to be yours, forever. The only thing that we should worry about is you getting bored of me and eventually falling out of love with me. That, is my only worry, my only fear."

"Jesus Christ, Vera, how many times are we going to argue this? I'm not going anywhere. Not now, not ever. So stop with that bullshit. It's not going to happen."

"Good." I said holding his gaze. I was only hoping he was being completely honest.

"Fire and ice. Dark and light. Man and woman. Always up and down. You two need to get laid." Odin chuckled crossing his arms. "You both clash so much, sometimes I wonder how you work."

"She's insecurely doubtful." Zebastian said scowling at me.

"You're emotionally insecure." I countered. He rolled his eyes at me, I huffed.

"Yeah, well, this isn't new." Eryx said. "Anyway, we came to inform you on the progress of Wonderland, maybe if you'd stop having babies consecutively then you'd get to see it before it's completed."

"Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I'm handicapped. I can go if I want to, I just prefer to keep an eye on my kids, after all, they are babies." I said narrowing my eyes at him. Eryx wasn't fazed by me, he only feared Zebastian.

"You two can sort it out however you want to do things, just get over there so we can make sure it's going according to plan." Eryx said and stood up. "I've got to go, have fun."

Shortly after everyone had gone and it was just Zebastian and I and his cleaning staff that I never saw. I slid on his desk and sighed while he worked. What to do, what to do, I need things to do.

"You're a pretty big distraction if I say so myself." Zebastian murmured not looking up.

"Are you indirectly asking me to leave?"

"Leave? No. What do you want?" He asked now looking up. "I can feel your boredom." I shrugged.

"I want to not be bored I guess."

"We've been together for quite some time, Vera, you don't have to be shy." He chuckled. "If you want me to satisfy you I will, after all it is something I'm really good at." I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Are you implying that I want sex to pass time?"

"You'll sleep. It's not the sex that passes the time, our sex seems to stop time in place. I have work to do as you do not. For once, the children are completely quiet and calm. I can give you exactly what you want." God I hated how he could easily talk his way into my panties. I crossed my arms and slid off the desk.

"If you're not there in less than two minutes, I'll see to it that I take your job into my fingers." I warned him.

"Oh, no, my love, I want all your pleasure." I grinned at him over my shoulder.

"Come and get it."
