Secret Love

Chapter 23

I hop in Jason's truck and he takes off down the street. I play with my necklace while Jason drives us to the movie theater for some 'brother-sister-bonding-time' as he puts it. Not that I mind though, It's been way to long since Jason and I have hung out just the two of us.

We parks the truck and we walk over to the ticket booth, "what are you in the mood to see?" Jason asks.

I scan the all of the titles and show times before deciding on The Purge. I pay for the tickets then we walk inside and head over to the concession stand. I look around aimlessly while we wait in line. I stiffen when I notice Rachel walking over to me.

"Well if it isn't the home wrecker." she stops in front of me with her arms crossed and a strangely smug look on her face.

"Yeah 'cause it's totally my fault you cheated on Ash." I say, sarcasm dripping from my voice.

I step forward with Jason and tell him to order me a Dr. Pepper and some Red Vines.

"No, but you are the one that told him I was cheating on him."

I stare at her and shake my head, "Of course I told him. I mean someone had to tell him the girl he was dating is a two timing whore."

"I would really appreciate it if you could refrain yourself from calling my girlfriend a whore."

My eyes widen in shock as Cole slides up to Rachel and slips his arm over her shoulder. Well that explains the smug look she was giving me.

Cole and Rachel both smirk at me, as if seeing them together bothers me. They can keep dreaming, 'cause I could care less if they are together.

Jason steps up next to me and hands me my drink and candy while wearily eying the couple standing in front of us.

"What's up Jason?" Cole greets him.

Jason ignores him and gestures his with his head in the direction of theater five, "Come on Sammy, our movie will be starting soon."

Without a second glance in their direction I follow Jason to theater five and we grab seat towards the middle.

"I can't believe those two ended up together." Jason mummers.

I scoff, "I can. They're perfect for each other. She's a stuck up bitch and he's a cocky bastard."

"Yeah and that's why they're never going to last."

I shrug, "I don't care how long they last as long as they don't bother me."

Jason mumbles an agreement as the light begin to dim. I take a sip of my soda and settle into my seat and put all my focus on the movie playing in front of me.

"That movie was awesome! Could you imagine what it would be like if that was really allowed?" I say to Jason as we walk over to the food court in the mall.

Jason opens the door for me and I walk in ahead of him, "It would be insane." Jason says as we get in line for Pizza Hut.

We talk more about the movie while we eat lunch. Then we start talking about other movies and what it would be like if we were in some of the situations.

After lunch I convinced Jason to go play in the arcade with me like we used to when we were little. We get twenty dollars worth of tokens and Jason drags me over to one of the racing games. He of course beats me. I suck at racing games and he knows it.

Now it's my turn for revenge! I grab his hand and lead him over to the back corner where Dance Dance Revolution is set up. I feed some tokens into the machine and set it on expert. Jason reluctantly steps up on the platform next to me. Beating him is easier than I thought it would be.

Over the next couple hours we play all of the games in the arcade. Jason and I put all of the tickets we won together and give them to some random little kid before we leave and head back to Jason's truck.

"Hey guys. How was the movie?" Ash asks as soon as we walk into the living room.

"It was awesome!" I shout happily as I fling myself into the recliner.

Ash chuckles. Jason sits down on the couch next to him, "We ran into Rachel while we were there." he tells him.

"Oh yeah? How did that go?"

"She's dating Cole now." I say lightly.

"Really?"

Jason nods and Ash just shakes his head, "well good luck to them then."

Jason and I tell Ash about the movie and the arcade. He listens to us and comments and laughs as we recap our day.

"It sounds like you two hand a blast today." he says.

"Oh yeah." Jason and I say simultaneously.

We spend the rest of the day watching TV. in the living room with Ash. I do my best not to look over at him or move to the couch so I could be next to him. I glance up at the clock and notice the time. I get up from the recliner and walk into the kitchen.

I get out a clean pot and pan. I take out everything I will need to make spaghetti. I put the noodles in the pot and start making the sauce. While those are cooking I pop some garlic bread into the oven.

I set out plates for the three of us and call the guys into the kitchen. We all make our plates and take them back into the living room. Jason snags the recliner before I can. I try not to smile since that means I get the spot next to Ash.

I sit down next to him and he brushes his knee against mine. I bite into my garlic bread to keep from smiling.

When all of us are done eating I grab all the dirty dishes and take them to the sink. I rinse them and load them into the dishwasher.

Ash comes into the kitchen and grabs a soda out of the fridge. He sets it on the counter next to me and pulls me into his arms. I wrap my arms around his neck and and stand on the tip of my toes. I brush my lips against his and I feel him smile.

"I've been wanting to do that all day." he whispers against my lips.

I kiss him one more time before he pulls away. He grabs his soda, kisses me on the cheek then walks back out to the living room.

I grab a soda for Jason and one for myself. I walk back into the living room and toss Jason his drink. I sit back down next to Ash and try to focus on the TV. and not how much I want to kiss him again.
