Chapter 20: Deadly Bite (Part 3)
Few Days Later….
IANNE’S POV
Biglaan akong napauwi sa bahay from school, hindi ko na tinapos yung classes ko when I received a phone call from Xave. I rushed back to our house. Tribal badly needs me…
“Xave, what happened?” pumunta agad ako sa room ni Tribal. He’s lying on his bed. His face was so pale; the skin around his mouth is kinda bluish. Yesterday, he keeps on complaining about intense pain in his back and even at the back of his eyes.
“I don’t know. I was with him the whole time. He doesn’t stop vomiting. Halos wala na nga syang isuka dahil hindi rin naman sya makakain eh…” Xave’s voice was so worried. I took Tribal in my arms. He’s really, really, really hot. What the hell is going on with my son?
“Xave, ang taas ng lagnat niya. What was his last body temperature check? Should we call a doctor?” grabeh, sobrang nakakapaso ang init ng balat ni Tribal. He cannot even move his body or even lift his head.
“M-Mommy… I-It… It hurts…” we can barely understand what he is saying. His throat sounds so dry and his body is swollen.
“Xave, look at this… w-wala namang syang rushes nung umalis ako kaninang umaga diba?” I showed Tri’s rushes to him. Hindi namin maintindihan ni Xave yung nangyayari.
Last week, the school called us saying that Tribal has headache. After that, nilagnat na sya. We thought it is just usual for a child to have fever. Even when we were in States, may pagkasakitin na talaga si Tribal. So he was in bed for almost 4 days, he lost his appetite and complaining about the pain. We asked for medications to our doctor. After some time, umayos din yung pakiramdam ni Tribal. Kaya pumasok na ako kaninang umaga…
“Shit. Wait for me, I’ll call a doctor.” Natatarantang lumabas ng kwarto si Xave para tumawag ng doctor. I stay with Tribal. Oh God…. What’s going on?
“Baby… kaya mo pa? Don’t give up, okay? the doctor is coming…” I whispered to him while soaking a towel in a basin with warm water. Ipinunas ko iyon sa katawan niya, maybe it will help pababain yung lagnat niya.
