"The king has asked me to take you to get some dinner" said a young marrow who had just walked into Terrance and Ava's loaned hut

"Ok" Ava said while Terrance nodded

He looked young, half the size of the marrow's they saw earlier, his voice wasn't as thick and smooth as the king's, it was high pitched and cracked here and there

They followed him out of the hut

"How are you? What's your name?" Terrance asked

The young one stopped mid step and turned to look at them

He appeared to be thinking something over for a second before responding

"The king said we weren't friends with your kinds yet, that I don't have to talk to you but.. You look nice."

"Erm.. Thanks?" Terrance said

"Jainie, and 157."

Terrance's eyes looked from Jainie to Ava in shock

"Marrows live 600-800 years give or take, 150 is still quite young for them" Ava explained gently

"157" Jainie corrected

Ava put her hands up in surrender, "my bad"

The marrow then turned and began walking again

"So uh, Jainie, what do you guys eat?" Terrance asked

"Fish" he said casually over his shoulder

He lead them along a few more bridges into a big porch-like area. There was a large wooden bucket, it was as tall as terrance's waist.

They lakes over to it to see it filled with fish

Jainie smirked at them

"What?" Terrance asked

"I cooked your fish for you!"

"Thank you!" Terrance thanked with a smile

"But there's a catch.."

"What might that be?"

"King says you might be here for a week or more, I'll give you the precook we fish tonight if you promise to spend time with me!" He said pushing his chest out and putting his hands on his hips to show he meant business

Terrance smiled, "of course I will!"

Jainie dropped the act and looked at her in excitement but shock, "you will!?"

Terrance nodded

The marrow boy smiled then walked away

A few moments later he returned with cooked fish chunks on two leaves. He handed a leafs to each of them

"I want to learn about humans and elves, I've never seen them before" he said as they tried their first bite

"Well ask away!" Ava said

The boy smiled and began asking away. It was nice to see at least one marrow put their guard down

After they finished eating they spent the rest of daylight answering a lot of Jainie's questions and explaining the basic ways of life for elves and humans

Once all the sunlight left the sky the marrow not led them back to their hut.

"So uh, time to try out these.. Beds" Terrance said moving the sides to try and figure out how to best get into it

"The marrow like sleeping in them because they curl up and it's like the egg they hatched from" Ava replied

Terrance raised her brows and nodded somewhat sarcastically but politely at the same time, then after watching how Ava climbed in she did the same.

To her surprise it was extremely comforting to feel enclosed in it. It trapped just enough of her body heat to make her cozy but the light weight material let the air ventilate so she didn't get to hot.

Ava was still and quiet and terrance's eyes began feeling heavy

"Climb to the tree tops.. Let's meet" a low voice growls soothingly in her head

"You had to wait until I was cozy didn't you." She thought back
