Chapter 18

Terrance opened her eyes half way, full of sleep, the sun will begin coming up any minute

She rubbed her eyes while yawning then shifted in her hammock to watch the sun rise.

She looked over to see if Ava was awake but she wasn't there. Elves were such self disciplined beings. Ava an early riser

"I see you're awake" a strong confident yet smooth woman's voice said. Her voice matching the calmness of the morning

"I am" she said climbing out of her hanging bed sack. She turned to face the marrow king and bowed her head slightly

"I often go for late night flights like you do climbs"

"Oh really?"

"Yes, it's very calming. I have something for you"

Terrance watched as she pulled out a moon stone necklace from her feathers. She held it from the chain and let the stone dangle

"I saw you and head you with your dragon. I understand now that the task I asked of you will be completed soon after you leave" the king said

"But you heard Jed, we aren't a thing, I haven't even touched him yet" she said before realizing she wasn't helping, if the king would give her the moon stone why was she arguing

"Yes but you have a bond neither of you planned or understand. The true heir is humble and points out what they think should be known instinctively. Like a few moments ago.. May?" The king asked stretching the chain to fit over a head

Terrance noises and moved closer

The king put the necklace on Terrance and smiled

"To future freedom" the king said smiling

"To future freedom" Terrance copied with a slight smile and nod

"You can stay while you want to rest. You are welcome here, we are not friends or allies though. The marrow keep to themselves."

"Well thank you. I would like to stay another week or two then we'll head out"

"As you wish heir" the king smiled, slightly bowed then jumped out the window and flew off

Did she just half now to me? Terrance wondered to herself

There were weird sounds coming from the wall under the window

What could that be? It sounds like someone's climbing the hut she thought

She took a step toward the window when blond hair peeked over

Terrance relaxed

Within seconds Ava climbed up and sumersaulted into the hut

"What are you..?" Terrance started to ask before trailing off

"Morning work out, I have to stay fit!" Ava said, she stood up straight, put her hands on her hips and beamed a confident smile

"So your workout is climbing out hut?"

"Strength training. There's a lot of indent ice not to fall.. Since we're so high up"

"I guess that's true"

"Why are you so cherpy looking this early?" Ava asked

Terrance reached for her moon stones and pulled all 3 up in slow motion, a smile slowly growing the more she pulled them up

"She gave it to you!?" Ava asked, excitement filling her voice like a school girl's

"Yep!" She said dropping them back around her neck

"Why?"

"Because my dragon convince me to climb to the tree tops to.. Hang out and she saw and was convinced we had a bond"

"Your dragon?" Ava asked raising an eye brow

"Oh you know what I mean" Terrance replied with sarcasm to brush it off, "an ideas how I can wear all these necklaces without tangling them?"

"Undo the clasps and hold them out straight"

Terrance did and Ava stretched them out between them and braided them loosely,

"There, now they'll lay as one" Ava said

"Thanks" Terrance smiled back
