The Alpha's Son

My head pounded as I wracked my brain, trying to distinguish the different duties I had to actively fulfill. With a sigh, I lifted the pads of my fingers to my head, trying to ease the nagging as I gently massaged my temples. The cons of being the beta's daughter heavily out weighed the pros.

I'm leaving!" I impatiently called out to my father, not waiting for a response I quickly slammed the door. I just needed to get away from the pack for a while, the charmed life wasn't as carefree as it once seemed. I feel as though the whole pack is always watching me, seeing every mistake I have ever made.

My whole body tensed as it coiled like a spring before swiftly changing shape into a small unidentifiable wolf. It still surprised me how different I was from my wolf. Instead of having the same chocolate brown eyes and milky hair, she instead had light golden hair that shimmered in the sunlight. I closed my eyes, feeling the sun's warmth cradling around my fur, other than the stress from the pack, life was good.

There was one place I always would confide in when I just needed time alone, needed space from everything around me, and in a matter of minutes I arrived. I could feel myself break out into a grin at the very sight of it. the water glistened as the sun's rays shone against it. The lake lay splat in the middle of our rival pack, Midnight, and my own pack Sunrise. Since both of the two packs hadn't bothered to claim it, I had made it my own personal get away. It wasn't as if anyone cared, they could care less. My pack members wouldn't even glance at the lake, let alone desperately search for me here. Not wasting any time, I hastily striped down, I had gotten over the insecurity of being bare, the chances of encountering someone here were very slim.

As soon as my body was engulfed by the almost silk like texture of the water, my mind relaxed and for the first time that day, I let my thoughts wander. Without thinking, my eyes fluttered closed my mind wandered to my mother. I cringed involuntary, She had died the day I was born, this was the reason that my father and I didn't celebrate my birthday.

I could feel the corners of my lips drooping into a small frown, my father had taken her death hard. No matter how hard I tried to ignore it, I could always see the hurt in his eyes when he looked at me. It was because I looked like a mirror image of my mother, my father was next in line for alpha, but when my mother died he couldn't take responsibility for the pack. He was to heartbroken, after all she was his mate. I was too lost in thought to notice the strong scent of another wolf.

Mates Pov

The first thing that struck me was her heart shaped pink lips that parted slightly, the girl was frowning and I watched her lips twitch unknowingly. I was drawn to her, and I didn't know that I had started to swimming toward her until I was lurking over her perfect body.

The girl's scent was so sweet and I felt my heart wildly hammering in my chest. I came to the lake to escape, and judging by the way her eyebrows furrowed in distaste, I could tell she had come for the same reason. There was no denying that this girl was my mate. My mind was hazy as I reached a hand out to caress her cheek, but I slowly retracted it. My eyes shamelessly scanned every angle on her delicate face as if I was trying to memorize every detail about her, but before my brain could stop my body, I pressed my lips against hers.
