It wasn’t a nightmare and the next morning at breakfast was hell; sure, the Gryffindor’s all found the circumstance pretty awesome but that was only because it was to their advantage. I knew that most of them didn’t believe me or Harry when we said that we hadn’t put out names in. The rest of the school was giving us the third degree; seeing the situation as Gryffindor’s way of getting ahead again.

I could understand the Hufflepuff’s attitude; Cedric was the real champion, by which I mean that he’s of the correct age and his name came out first, and they always seemed to get overshadowed by the other houses and for once something had gone in their favour but Harry and I had taken that away from them. They, of course, didn’t believe us.

The Slytherins were always horrible to us Gryffindors and this just gave them a better excuse; they just think that it’s another one of Harry’s ‘attention seeking’ acts and the Ravenclaws just kinda…ignored us completely.

“This is pants” Harry grumbled, staring down at his porridge “seriously; why is it always me?!

“Harry” I frowned “there’s nothing we can do about it so quit whining; at least we have each other so we can fall back on the other when it comes to preparing for the tasks.”

“It’s alright for you” he snapped angrily “at least your best friend doesn’t think that you’ve betrayed them or lied to them and won’t even listen when you try to explain something that you don’t even fully understand yourself!”

I slapped him around the face, not out of anger but as an attempt to get him to snap out of it. “Shut up” I told him “what’s done is done we can’t change it so just man up for god’s sake and as for Ron, he’ll come around eventually.”

“He’s jealous” Hermione stated as she sat down beside us “look at it logically. He is forever competing with his brothers who have all, between them, helped win the house cup for Gryffindor, become a prefect, become head boy and achieved good OWL results; this was his one chance to do something that none of his brothers had done and he feels like you’ve taken that away from him and of course he doesn’t think that’s fair because you’re always getting attention for something or other” She shrugged “he doesn’t hate you; he’s just being-”

“An idiot” Harry said. “I didn’t ask for this, I didn’t ask for any of this and now because of this I’ve lost my best friend! Well, whatever, let him be jealous; maybe he’ll get lucky and I’ll die so that he can take my place.” Harry stood up from the table and left the hall, going as fast as he could without actually running.

Hermione sighed as she watched him go before turning back to me “I’ve tried talking to Ron but he’s adamant. I actually wanted to slap the look of his stupid face!”

“Can we just bash their heads together or lock them in a room until they sort it out?” I suggested.

“I’d go with the latter” Fred informed me as he slid into Harry’s now vacant space, pushing the porridge away from him with a scowl and helped himself to a slice of toast before smothering marmite onto it.

The rest of the day was spent sitting under a tree with Fred, Harry and Hermione talking about anything and everything that wasn’t to do with the upcoming tasks but avoiding the topic of the tournament was like trying to catch a unicorn, almost impossible; in the middle of the next week both Harry and I were pulled out of potions by Colin Creevey who guided us to an empty classroom before disappearing. As it turned out, we were to have our photographs taken for the Daily Profit and to have our wands weighed.

Harry left the room beside me looking completely bewildered by what had happened. He’d been cornered by Rita Skeeter and thrust into a broom closet  where she interviewed him.

We found out that we wouldn’t know anything about the first task until we were actually supposed to complete it but, apparently, the schools had different ideas.

About a week before the first task, Harry had disappeared off to Hagrid’s under the unusual request to bring his invisibility cloak; Harry, of course, obliged, leaving me and Hermione sitting in the common room talking quietly about what we’d do if people hadn’t gone to bed before midnight. Harry had a meeting with Sirius and we promised him that we’d make sure that it was private.

“I still say stink bombs” she said as Ron walked over to us, frowning.

“Where’s Harry?” He asked.

I looked at him angrily and said “what is it to you? You turned your back on him when he needed you most!”

“Lil!” Hermione said in horror.

“What? It’s true; Harry would have never done that to you, Ron, and you know it!”

I saw a flash of pain in Ron’s eyes before it disappeared and anger replaced it “well I’m not the one who lied through his teeth about putting his name in the goblet!” Ron snapped back.

I shook my head at him “Harry’s already told you that is wasn’t him and so have I; some friend you are, Ron.” I turned to Hermione and said “I’m going to bed” before getting up and stalking off.

I hadn’t expected sleep to fall over me as quickly as it did because I was curious about what Hagrid needed Harry for but I must have been exhausted to the point that I don’t even remember closing my eyes.

The next morning, I awoke, prodded Hermione awake and we both dressed quickly before heading down to the common room to find Harry already down there. He didn’t look as though he’d slept at all; his face was pale and his eyes frantic. “What’s wrong, Harry?” Hermione and I asked at the same time.

“Hagrid showed me what the first task is going to be.”

My heart immediately started to race; by the look on Harry’s, it wasn’t good. “What? What is it?”

He looked at me for a moment or two before opening his mouth and telling me something that made me want to run away and never look back. “Dragons.”

Sorry for the delay and the short part but my mind is still in Criminal Minds mode. I'm used to watching about 12 episodes a week, early seasons (apart from the new season 8), and then season 4 finished and they didn't put any more on so, naturally, I'm going through really bad withdrawal right now which lead to me writing fan fiction for it (if you're interested, tell me and I'll link you the address...or maybe add it to wattpad.) So Yeah...SORRY GUYS...I'm a sucker for the BAU team!!!
Anyway, here's an upload for you, enjoy xxx
