Chapter 12- Hotel Creaking

By the time we were done eating, it was late afternoon.

"We should get a hotel room for tonight." I suggest.

They all nod and sigh tiredly.

"We have to get back to my car, so let's head back to the border."

Walking out the restaurant, I wonder how we will get to the car.

'We will just beat the guards up again' I think to myself and smirk.

But when we get back to the border, the guards are still unconscious.

"How are they still out?" Lucy asks.

"No idea." I mumble. "Let's go."

When we are back in the car, Alex drives.

I stare out the window as Canada gets farther and farther away.

After a while, we pull up at a hotel.

We pay for the room and go inside.

It has two queen sized beds, and a decently large T.V.

"You and Alex take one bed, Eleanor and I will take the other." Lucy offers.

I give her a smile and climb into bed, exhausted.

Alex turns the light out and curls up next to me.

Lucy and Eleanor turn on the T.V.

I let the noise from the television play in the background.

Alex's arms wrap around me. He snuggles his face behind my neck, in my hair.

I pull him closer and let him put me to sleep.

I wake to the sound of creaking floorboards.

It is the middle of the night.

Darkness pours in through the windows and moonlight shines on the carpet.

There are no wooden floorboards.

Maybe it was just my imagination.

I sit and listen.

Another Creak.

Getting out of bed, I slowly make my way to the door, grabbing my room key on the way.

I ease open the door and step out.

Following the creaks, I make my way to the basement.

When I get down the stairs, there is a dark figure.

I can tell this man was the one doing the creaking, it is super loud now that I'm right next to it.

I can't tell what he is doing, but when he turns around, I know who he is.

I gasp and my room key clatters to the floor.

Its the man who bit us.
