Chapter 2- Slowly Dying

We turn to face the man.

Alex's arm reaches out to my waist protectively, pulling me closer.

The man is tall, with brown hair that hangs in his face. As he steps closer the moonlight shines on his eyes and I can see they are a gold color.

"What are you doing here?" The man snaps.

"Just taking a walk." I lie.

He snorts. "At this time of night? I doubt it."

"What does it matter? I don't even know you. We are leaving." I say, annoyed.

"Go ahead and try." He taunts.

"And if we do?" I ask angrily.

"You die."

I narrow my eyes, though I doubt he can see it.

"Let's go." I say to my friends.

We turn once again to head the other way.

Alex is ripped from my side.

I furiously whip around to see the man holding him in a chokehold.

"Let him go!" I yell, shaking with anger.

When he doesn't, I lunge at the man and claw at his face.

He drops Alex, who is breathing heavily on the ground.

How dare he hurt him!! I focus my energy on clawing and throwing punches at the man.

He grabs me quickly and spins me around so I'm facing away from him.

I let out a piercing scream as his teeth sink into my neck.

No, not teeth. Fangs.

This man is a Vampyre.

Alex is off the ground and kicking the man as hard as he can.

But the Vampyre is too fast. He sinks his fangs into Alex's neck, and he also screams in pain.

"No!" I choke out. "Alex!"

He has Eleanor's neck in one hand and Lucy's in another.

He bites both and drops them to the ground.

I let out a strangled cry and reach out for Alex.

I find his arm and pull myself to him.

"Goodbye, Camille. I love you.." Alex chokes out before going silent.

I silently sob and grip him tighter.

He can't be dead.

I look around for the man but he is gone.

Eleanor and Lucy lay on the ground a few feet from me, unmoving.

I can tell they aren't dead yet by the soft gasping that escapes their mouths.

I am fading.

I weakly squeeze Alex's hand while taking my last breath of air.

And then my world goes black.
