Chapter 4- First Clue

"What happened last night?" Lucy asks.

We got past the blue eye issue, and now we have to figure out what exactly went down yesterday.

"That Vampyre. He bit us." I say.

"Vampyres do exist.." Alex breathes.

"The Box!!" I suddenly exclaim.

I reach for the small wooden box, relived to find it still there.

Pulling it out, I examine the lock.

I place it onto the ground and stomp on it.

I remove my foot and see that the lock is shattered to bits.

I raise my eyebrows in surprise.

Picking it up, I flip open the box top.

There, Sitting in the box..

Is a note.

I grunt in frustration.

The note looks old, the edges yellow and curling up.

I carefully unfold it.

Deep in the forest,

This clue was found.

Buried under,

In the ground.

The next clue will be found,

In a snowy town.

Near the border, from V to C.

Get past the guards,

And you will be free.

Travel to the train station, west of security.

An old maple tree,

This is a secret, between you and me.

Hanging in the branches,

A key.

"Guys, check this out!" I say.

Everyone huddles over my shoulder to read the note.

We try and figure out the message of the clue.

Obviously, it was found here.

The next clue is in a snowy town near a border.

We have to get past security and find a train station to the west of the border.

In the branches of an old maple tree, there is a key.

A key to what? And where is V and C?

"Well, we do live in Vermont. Vermont borders on Canada." Alex says.

"You're a genius!" I exclaim, kissing his forehead.

"Umm, guys?" Lucy interrupts.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"It looks like its about two in the morning, and we still have to get back to our houses."

"Oh, yeah." I respond dumbly.

We take off in the direction of where we came.

In what seems like two seconds, we are back to our neighborhood.

"Holy shit. That was fast." Alex says.

I chuckle.

We say goodbye an head off in our separate directions.

I sneak in through the back door and collapse into my bed, tired from the events.
