Chapter 6- Puzzle Pieces

I watched Katherine storm out, ignoring Justine and Mrs. Stokes protests.

Justine hurried out after her, attempting to calm her.

I had to stifle a laugh.

As the bell rung, I hurried out of the gym.

What had happened back there? I wondered this as I entered the lunch room.

As I sat down, Alex draped his arm around my shoulders.

I leaned into him, sighing.

"What's wrong?" He asks me.

"I'm just.. Not feeling like myself."

"Me either." He agrees.

The rest of the day goes by uneventful.

As I flop onto my bed, many questions fill my mind.

Who was the mysterious man?

What happened Friday, and why were my eyes like this?

What did the note mean, exactly?

And, the unexplainable. Today in gym.

I will take it one step at a time.

First, I have to figure out that note.

Looking over it again, I try and work out the puzzle.

The next clue will be found in a snowy town bordering Canada and Vermont. We have to get past the guards and find a train station west of them. In an old maple tree, there is a key.

These clues are like puzzle pieces, put together to make one big puzzle that needs to be solved.

Finally, I know what we must do.

We have to travel to the border.

When?

Soon, hopefully. Really soon. I need to tell my friends.

+GROUP MESSAGE+

To: Alex

We need to get to the border of V&C..soon.

I waited until my phone chimed with responses.

Ellie: How soon?

Me: This weekend?

Alex: Okay, but how will parents let us?

Me: Idk. Lucy?

Lucy: Umm.. Fake school field trip?

Alex: They might call school.

Ellie: What about a friend field trip?

Me: Yes! Get permission!

Alex: Okay.

We all went to ask our parents.
