Chapter 30

MATTHEW'S POV

I ripped off the picture given by the hired detective. I got Maddie tailed these few days. Though these weren't conclusive, a doctor named Robin remained a constant buddy of her.

It's better that you clear things with her. I knew Robin 'coz he's the one whom I caught naked with Maddie. He's the reason we broke up.

Those were Brandon's words. I've shown him the photos. But I couldn't control my anger. The detective gave me the address where Maddie stays. And here I am, parked five meters from the gate. Before I could get out from the car, Robin was in front the gate. He had a box of chocolate doughnut on his right.

Damn that man!

Maddie opened the door. She's in her skinny short and sleeveless shirt. How could she appear in that revealing outfit. Is she gonna seduce him?

Full of anger, I pressed the gas and drove past them. The hell I care!

MADDIE'S POV

"What the h...."

Robin almost jump from his feet. A reckless driver just passed by. It was a busy street with pedestrians but the car just drove off very fast.

"I'm sorry if I'm persistent." Robin was apologetic.

I thought he's not serious when he said he wanted to visit this Sunday. Partly, I was to blame. I should have said I don't want him to visit me in my place.

"Come in."

I got conscious with my clothes. I just finished cleaning the house and I'm comfortable with the skinny short and sleeveless shirt when I'm on my chores.

"Robin, good to see you here." Ella was with my son Theo. They were playing online games.

"Hi, Ella. How about a chocolate doughnut young man?"

Theo was quite shy. He may have seen Robin a couple of times but he's not that close like he did with Lance.

"Go on" Ella encourage him to grab the doughnut.

He got the box and started chewing. He threw swift glances to Robin.

I went to my room to change for a more appropriate clothes. After putting on long jeans and tshirt, I joined them.

"Are you mommy's boyfriend?"

I almost fainted with Theo's direct question to Robin. Where did he get that idea?

Robin scratched his head. "No, I'm not her boyfriend."

"But do you intend to?" Theo had a follow up question.

"Theo?" I threw a warning look at him.

"If she wants to" Robin answered.

I signaled Ella to get Theo out of the living room. I need to really talk with Robin.

"Let's grab a soft drink." Ella asked Theo.

"Robin, I just wanna make this clear to you." I started talking to Robin. "I don't want any relationship for now."

"But I wanted to help you in raising Theo. It's hard to be a single parent."

"I'm sorry, i believe  I can raise him on my own. "

"I love you, Maddie. Please let me be your partner."

I sighed. "I don't love you." I had to be honest with him.

He seemed defeated. "Just let me be part of your family even as friend."

"I'm sorry on that either. Please Robin, I don't want to give the false hopes on Theo that he can have a father figure in you."

"Is that what you really want?"

I nodded. With shoulders really down, Robin walked away.
