Scene 088

"Leader. When were you going to tell me?" asked Amy. She pacing her room with jerky motions. She turned toward Dam, where he sat on the couch with Lubin. "Well?"

Dam stroked Lubin, whom he had stopped by just long enough to pick up from Santi's cabin. Then he followed Amy to her cabin. Dam cleared his throat. "We felt it might be best to wait and tell you after you arrived here. You didn't trust us and my position as Ruler of Valdiar wouldn't have built up your confidence."

Amy threw up her hands. "Of course, that explains everything. Not." She flung herself into a chair. "I'm so mad. I could spit." The table next to her started to bounce and shake a little.

Dam watched as the anger filling Amy overflowed into the room. "We need to change the subject." Dam commanded, while eyeing the table.

Anger consumed the air in the room. "I don't think so. I'm not finished. Do I look like a child, who couldn't be told the truth?"

Dam watched the table rise and fall with every tap of Amy's foot. He knew he had to calm her down. "I have explained everything I am going to. We are not going any further with this conversation until you have calmed down," Dam ordered.

Amy let loose a shriek, the table rose high into the air. "I need to get away from you or I am going to strangle you with my bare hands." Jumping to her feet, Amy stormed out of the cabin. The table dropped to the floor with a bang as the door closed.

"That went smoothly, I think," Dam said as he let out the breath he had been holding.

Laughter filled Dam's mind. Lubin was laughing so hard he rolled off Dam's lap.
