I pull off my cloak. It's been so long since I've seen a lake or pond. My prison didn't exactly have bodies of water. I pull my hair up as I enter the pool. It's been so long since I felt the clear water on my skin. The stones at the bottom of the pond feel smooth. I feel the water beating against it.

I let out a breath. I splash the water onto my arms. He's out there. If he breaks free, my father will kill me and him. I move my fingers down my hair. I don't think it would matter either way. I think he hates me as much as him, if not more so. I hear Runaan coming.

"Can you really not stay one minute without me?" I ask.

"Don't read into it." He pulls off his clothes.

He enters the pool. I let out a breath. I turn my head slightly.

"Aaravos." He breathes.

"Hm?" I ask.

"Those scars..." He reaches his hand out.

I grab it immediately.

"Don't touch them." I hiss.

"Who did that to you?" He asks.

"It's complicated." I look down.

"Try me." He says.
