Chapter 24: The Ex-Talk

Everly: Are you sure you're okay na?

Ara: I'm really fine

I glared at the sun as I looked outside the car window beside, shaking as the SUV moved through the rough road we needed to cross. Bakit kasi dumaan sa short cut? Hindi naman kami nagmamadali makarating ng Hermosa.

Ugh. I'm so annoyed.

And I miss the smell of my favorite baby girl and the warmth of her tight hugs... Too bad, she's now sitting on her dad's lap, hugging him tightly like they knew each other for a long time! I was here first, Savi!

"Can I have Savi? Kanina mo pa siya karga," hindi ko napigilan ang sarili ko na magreklamo. Tinignan ko pa ng masama ang ulo nitong kontrabida sa buhay ko ngayon.

Narinig kong tumawa si Ysmael. Sumagot pa ito nang hindi lumilingon sa akin. "What can I say? Savannah loves her Papa."

I rolled my eyes before I focused my glare on my best friend. "Do you really have to marry him, Leila?"

Leila looked back and opened her mouth, but her annoying husband beat her to it. "Don't blame her. I'm pretty irresistible."

"Ew! Kadiri—"

Leila raised her hand to me. "Cut it out! Little ears, guys."

"Eto kasi!" I couldn't help but reason out, like a kid. "I was just asking if I can have my god-daughter again! Kanina niya pa kandong si Savi!"

Ysmael covered his daughter's ears as he shot back at me. "I've only held her for thirty minutes max! You've been hugging her this whole time, Ara."

Boo-hoo, bitch. You've been with her in Singapore for months! I thought to myself. My best friend would smack me on the back of my head if she heard me say that.

I rolled my eyes at his annoying-ass face. "I don't care. Lagi mo na nga siyang kasama, ipagdadamot mo pa."

Leila heaved a deep sigh. "Don't fight in front of the kid, guys."

"She needs to sleep," Ysmael said firmly. "She might wake up if I pass her to Ara."

I rebuffed that right away. "She can sleep here at the back, with me."

"No."

I glared at him. "Fuc—"

"Ara," Leila interrupted my brewing rant. Her eyes pleading me to cut it out. "Please? Pag nagising siya, I will hand her over to you myself. Just be quiet please, bago magising siya at mag-tantrum."

Pouting, I just decided to sulk in my seat. "Fine."

True to her words, Leila handed over her daughter when she woke up. I couldn't help but stick my tongue out at her dad when her little voice rang out earlier and said, 'I want my Mama Ara.'

But my victory was short-lived. Ysmael asked their driver to go straight to Hacienda Arcangel so they could drop me off first before they went to his parents' house.

"Are you sure you're okay here?" Leila asked as she eyed the farmhouse from the inside of the van. "Pwede ka naman sa bahay. Meron namang guest room doon, lagi mo pang kasama si Savi."
