Maenya POV
I was awfully bored. Elyse was with her family, Sava was praying, Alicent was busy and Rhaenyra and I were at odds.
I groaned walking around the palace grounds. "There's nothing to do here" I complain to Carth
"Maybe visit Meraxes?" Carth suggests and I smile appears on my face
"Oh yes! Of course!" I start to walk to my Chambers to get my riding gear on when I come across Princess Rhaenys sitting on a bench over looking the gardens, watching my father and her daughter talk.
I turn to her "Princess Rhaenys, may I sit"
"Of course, Princess" she nods to the place next to her, I sit "does it bother you?" She asks
"What?"
She nods her head to the gardens, "No, I know my father will have to remarry it's his duty and even if he does, I have nothing to lose"
"Because you are not heir" she says
"Yes" I say bitterly "because I am not heir, you cannot be replaced in a position you do not have"
She looks at me, I couldn't tell what she was thinking. I could only tell she looked in thought. "I understand what it means to have something that should be yours, as first born, be given to someone who was born after you, But I had that taken from me because I was a woman, I still don't understand why it was taken from you"
I smile. A bitter, angry smile. "Because, cousin, he likes Rhaenyra more because she let him off the hook for killing our mother."
"And you haven't?"
I laughed "For as long as her scream of agony echo around my head whilst I sleep, I will never forgive him" another gap of silence filled the air
I could feel her pitiful gaze on me. She said nothing, only putting her hand on my shoulder.
She then squeezed my shoulder to warn me Rhaenyra was coming. As she walked past Rhaenys spoke. "It bothers you, does it not?"
Rhaenyra looks around for a moment before speaking "My father is a king, it is his duty to take a new wife and strengthen his line."
"I did not ask for a lesson in politics I asked whether it bothered you." Rhaenys snapped
"Laena is your daughter. does it bother you?" Rhaenyra fires back
