Chapter One | The Arrival

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐄 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐃𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐒𝐌𝐎𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐋𝐘 on the runway, and I let out a sigh of relief. I had finally arrived in my new town, ready to start a new chapter of my life after a horrendous few months since the tragedy of loosing my family.

I gathered my belongings and made the way through the airport, I couldn't help but feel a mix excitement and nervousness. I was about to the meet the Walter family, A family I never met before and know nothing much besides that they live on a ranch.

Katherine Walter, a close friend of her late mother had kindly offered Blair a place to stay at their ranch. Katherine was waiting for her at the arrival gate, her warm smile instantly putting Blair at ease.

"Welcome to the Walter household, Blair," Katherine said, her voice filled with genuine affection. "I'm so glad you're here."

I smiled, grateful for Katherine's generosity. "Thank you, Katherine. I can't express how much this means to me."

Katherine led her to the car, and they embarked on a short drive to the Walter ranch. As they pulled up to the sprawling property, my eyes widened in awe. The ranch was a picturesque haven, surrounded by lush greenery and stunning views of the countryside which New York had lacked.

Katherine gave Blair a tour of the house, introducing her to various rooms and spaces. It was clear that the Walter family valued art, as every corner of the house was adorned with beautiful paintings and sculptures. They reached a room at the end of a hallway, and Katherine's face lit up.

"This, my dear, is going to be your room," she said, opening the door to a spacious and sunlit art studio. "It used to be my studio, but I thought it would be perfect for a girl like you."

Blair's eyes widened in disbelief. The room was indeed perfect, with large windows allowing natural light to flood in, and a cozy nook for her bed. She couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude towards Katherine, who had gone above and beyond to make her feel welcome.

As she settled into her new space, Blair couldn't shake the nerves that had been building up since she arrived. She knew meeting the Walter family would be an adjustment, but she couldn't have anticipated the effect they would have on her.

Just as she was unpacking her last suitcase, the door swung open abruptly, startling her. Standing in the doorway was a tall, blonde man, his piercing blue eyes meeting hers with a mixture of curiosity and amusement. It was Cole, the second oldest Walter brother.

"Hey there," he said casually, dropping Blair's belongings onto the bed. "Looks like this is the last of your stuff from New York. From your personal delivery service."

Blair blinked, momentarily taken aback by his forwardness. "Uh, thanks a lot!," she managed to reply, her voice wavering slightly.

Cole smirked, his gaze lingering on her for a moment longer before he turned to leave. "You've got the whole room to yourself. Must be something special, coming all the way from New York," he teased, a hint of mischief in his voice.

Blair, who had been observing the interaction from the doorway, couldn't help but feel her nerves intensify. There was something about Cole that both intrigued and unnerved her. She had a feeling that her time at the ranch would be anything but ordinary.

Little did she know, her journey with the Walter boys was only just beginning.
