𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐘 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐒 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐎 into a nightmare. As the teacher announced that we needed to pair up, panic started to rise within me. Who would want to partner with the new girl?

Just as I began to feel the weight of my loneliness, a tall and tanned guy walked over to me. His friendly smile put me at ease. "Hey, do you wanna join our group?" he asked, extending a hand towards me. Relief washed over me as I nodded. "Sure, of course," I replied, grateful for his kindness.

We started chatting as we walked towards the lab tables. He introduced himself as Skylar, and I couldn't help but notice his warm brown eyes that seemed to hold a hint of mischief. It was easy to talk to him, and our conversation flowed effortlessly. Suddenly, another girl walked up to us and blurted out some information about me that caught me off guard. "Did you hear? Her mom was a famous fashion designer, and she lost her whole family in a tragic accident."

My heart sank as I realized she was talking about me. I hadn't expected my past to become the topic of conversation so soon. Grace, the girl who had joined our group, quickly realized her mistake and looked at me apologetically. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't know it was you."

"It's okay," I replied, trying my best to hide the pain that resurfaced. "My name is Grace." Grace glanced at Skylar, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. "How do you know Cole Walter?" she asked, her voice laced with intrigue.

Without thinking, I answered honestly, "I don't really know him. I just live with him." ''Why did he invite you for lunch'' Skylar says, ''He was just being nice is all'' I said innocently. ''Cole Walter doesn't do nice'' Skylar sneers.

Skylar and Grace burst into laughter, causing the teacher to intervene and remind us to focus on the task at hand.

As we got back to work, my mind couldn't help but wander back to Cole. There was something about him that intrigued me. Maybe it was the way he effortlessly made me feel welcome or his mischievous nature that added a spark to my bad days. Whatever it was, I couldn't deny the growing connection between us.

The final bell rang, indicating the end of the school day. As I walked toward the exit, I noticed the Walter boys passing by in their truck. Sighing, I resigned myself to another long walk home.

But before I could take another step, Grace caught up to me. "You can catch a ride with us, Blair," she offered, her kind eyes shining.

Grateful for her gesture, I accepted her invitation. Climbing into the car, I felt a sense of belonging that I hadn't experienced in a long time. Maybe living with the Walter boys wouldn't be so bad after all.

When we arrived home, Katherine had dinner set up and called all the boys in from the living room. As I sat down, I tried to push away the lingering sadness from earlier. But just as I began to relax, a scream escaped my lips. A snake slithered near my leg, causing chaos to erupt in the room. Laughter filled the air as I realized it was just a prank, orchestrated by Isaac. Tears welled up in my eyes, and I rushed upstairs, feeling overwhelmed by the events of the day.

As I closed the door to my room and sank onto the bed, the weight of my loneliness returned. My heart ached for the family I had lost, and sometimes, being surrounded by the chaos of the Walter boys made it even harder to bear. Lost in my thoughts, Suddenly there was a soft knock on the door.
