I pace in front of the desk in the elder's office of the clan's headquarters. I pace back and forth a few times and I finally sit back down.

Dad comes in and notices the posture of my shoulders and half way hanging down head. "Son, you do realize you are going to have one hell of a fight on your hands right?"

I look up and meet his eyes. "Why didn't you do something before now? How could you just stand aside and do nothing while she treated Yasmin like shit. She is your daughter!" I seethe out my voice rising with each word.

"Because I didn't know. I'm ashamed to say." He said hanging his head with his admission.

The guilt and rage I am feeling are warring inside of my heart. "Yasmin was treated like she didn't matter her whole life and we never saw it."

"I know, son. Now it's time we make it up to her."

"I'm trying."

"First thing you need to officially take over as elder of the clan."

"I'm already in the process of that. My elder ceremony is tomorrow evening."

Dad just nods at me and sits down in front of the desk.

We start making plans on how we are going to restructure the clan and get my sister back to her family.
