Hi everyone! There's been a bit of a rewrite since the beginning of Act 2. For those of you who don't wish to re-read the chapters, I'll add a tl;dr below :)
TL;DR: Trinity is wary of Matty, and has been alluding to an undisclosed event that took place after the summer she left high school that compelled her to sever ties with Matty permanently. This event will be revealed to him in the next chapter.
Meanwhile, Matty is convinced that Trinity left him high and dry for her own selfish reasons. Seemingly veiled by a tinge of resentment, he desires to showcase how great his life has been since her departure, yet simultaneously yearns to sleep with her one last time, hoping it will aid him in finally moving on from her.
