╰┈➤ PHASE TWO

🏴‍☠️

In a dimly lit training room, the atmosphere was tense as Admiral Bates announced the mission had been bumped up by a week. Even though nobody had successfully flown the low-level course, they were commanded to move on.

Captain Mitchell moved at the front, projecting a holographic image of the mission's phase two. The room was filled with the sound of hushed whispers and the occasional shuffle of papers as the crew members listened intently.

With a stern expression, Maverick began to explain the complexities of phase two, his voice filled with caution. He described the daunting task that lay ahead for the first team, emphasizing the need for precision and unwavering focus. The target, a mere three meters wide, seemed almost impossibly small considering the circumstances that followed.

As Maverick continued, he delved into the physical demands that awaited the pilots. The first team would have to execute a steep G climb, pulling a minimum of 9 G's, even though the aircraft's frame can only handle 7.5 G's. He described how it would feel, the sensation of having an elephant standing on their chests. The strain on their bodies would be immense, and the risk of blacking out loomed ominously.

Maverick's words painted a vivid picture of the challenges that lay ahead. He warned of the treacherous terrain, a mountain that threatened to become an unforgiving obstacle if the pilots failed to navigate it flawlessly. The enemy SAMS, surface-to-air missiles, would be on high alert, ready to unleash their deadly firepower within seconds of detecting the planes.

He referred to this dangerous situation as "coffin corner," a term that sent a shiver down the spines of those in the room. The gravity of the mission was palpable, and the weight of responsibility hung heavy in the air. He explained that a second pair of pilots would follow the first, their mission to destroy the target and replicate the same perilous G climb.

As the captain concluded his explanation, a collective silence settled over the room.

"Sir," Phoenix spoke up, "is this even possible?"

Everyone's eyes fell on Maverick, wondering the same thing.

His voice remained resolute, his unwavering belief in his team evident, "that, Lieutenant, will be determined by the pilot in the box."

The aviators exchanged glances, their faces etched with apprehension. They knew the risks, the near-impossible odds stacked against them and were dreading the task at hand.
