"What do you mean she's gone?" I ask Brad as he meets me at the airport. I've just made a twelve hour flight across an ocean only to find out she's gone. I can't say that I blame her really, but she's doing what she always does...running.

As I make my way to Brad's car I notice the now familiar head of red hair that sits in the passenger side front seat. I'm about to endure the wrath of Victoria. As soon as my door shuts she turns in her seat and shakes her finger at me.

"You." Her face stern and a bit put off if I'm honest.

"I know I fucked up. No need to remind me." I roll my eyes as I stare out the window.

"Did you just- Brad, you need to check your mate because he just rolled his eyes at me. I swear to you that you are within one inch of having your arse kicked."

"Maybe you should have applied the same logic to your mate instead of allowing her to run back to New York." I snap back.

I know this back and forth is doing neither of us any good, but tensions are high because of my stupidity.

"I swear if you two don't get your shit together before our wedding I'll murder you both." Victoria mumbles, Brad saying calming words to her in hopes of calming her down.

We make our way across town and Brad punches the code into my gate. It feels like I was just here. I never should have made this trip in the first place. I need to talk to Everleigh, only when I've calmed down a bit though.

"She asked me to give this to you." Victoria hands me a binder.

"What is this?" I ask.

"Her manuscript. She sold it Harry. She got a contract. A book deal. Her assistant days are done."

"They are publishing the book " she smiles for the first time at me. It has nothing to do with me but for the pride she feels for Ever.

"She did it. She bloody did it." I smile as my thumb traces over the binder that holds her manuscript.

"She said she promised you'd be one of the first to read it. She didn't even give me a copy." She rolls her eyes.

"Thank you for giving this to me. I know you didn't want to." I open the car door and close it behind me.

"Thanks for the ride Brad. I'm sorry for all of this. I really am." He shakes my hand and we agree to speak later. I make my way inside and shove the duffel bag off my shoulder onto the floor. Before opening the binder I retrieve my phone from my pocket and send Everleigh a quick text.

H: I'm holding your manuscript in my hands and before I dive in I wanted to say firstly how proud I am of you. Victoria filled me in after giving me a proper scolding of course. Secondly, I'm sorry. There's nothing I can say to fix this or excuse my behavior. I wish you'd stayed. I want to talk to you. I need to talk to you. Please let me know when you're ready to talk xx
