Chapter 7: Like Fire and Ice

After my misfortunate run in with the Locker owner, I found Lena, sitting on the school staircase.

“Hey,” I said as I walked over to her. “How did it go?” I asked nonchalantly.

“As if you don’t know.” She answered looking up at me with a smile. “You are a really bad spy. I think you should consider changing career paths.”

“I wasn’t that bad!” I protested. “I personally think I did a pretty awesome job spying on you.”

“Will, You do realize that when you spy on someone they’re not supposed to notice you.”

“I bet Christopher didn’t notice me!” I said hopefully.

“Well maybe if he were blind… nah… even then he would have noticed.” Lena answered with a smirk.

“I guess my dream of becoming the next James Bond will never come true.”

“Yeah, probably not.”

I sat down next to her and for a while we stayed silent. Lena was the first to speak.

-“So… now that I asked Christopher out, what’s the next step?”

“You tell Nicole about it, and then emphasize on how nervous you are, and how you wish you could have her there for moral support.”

“I never get nervous for stupid things like that. Nicole knows me better then that.”

“Nicole, will be to psyched that you actually have a date to pay attention to details.”

Lena rolled her eyes and said,

“Ok… but how does that get Lance into the picture?”

“Leave that to me.”

Lena raised her eyebrow but didn’t say a word. I could see that she doubted my capacities, but she didn’t object since she had no idea how to do it herself. If I hadn’t known any better I would probably have had the same doubts, but I’m a matchmaker. When it comes to love, I’m an expert.

People passed us in the hallway as they were all rushing off to class. Some guys gave Lena a quick glance and I could tell they liked what they saw. I couldn’t blame them. Lena was undeniably hot, and the worst part was that she didn’t even know it. I could feel that a lot of guys wanted Lena, but none of them liked her in any romantic way. They just wanted to get in her pants.

I had been like that to. Before I knew I was a cupid. But then on my 15th birthday it was like a switch was turned off. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m still attracted to girls, I just know I can’t have any of them.

Instead I fantasized about them, and… relieved myself from the pressure… Let’s put it that way. Just because I’m a cupid doesn’t mean I don’t have any hormones. I still get turned on, but I can control it by myself.

I looked back at Lena, who was still oblivious to the attention she was getting.

A few kids that were passing in the hallway greeted her and she smiled back at them, but no one came over to talk to her. Then Nicole passed and when she noticed us she immediately came running over.

“Hey guys!” She shouted enthusiastically.

“Hey Nicky” Lena answered while I just smiled.

“What’s up?” She asked, looking at us with her big blue eyes.

That was Lena’s queue.

“You have no idea what just happened to me!” Lena shouted, with a fake enthusiastic voice while jumping up.
