Part 20

          As every morning Vita went to social room to eat quick breakfast. 

          She went inside and saw Paz sitting and drinking something. She looked worried but she didn't payed much attention to it.

          After making toasts she sat down next to her.

-"What's going on? You look worried. Something happened?" - Vita asked and took first bite.

-"Maybe. I don't know what to think about it." - she responded looking non-stop into her cup.

-"It'sss about something, someone or just ... is?"

-"Well ... let's say it about me and ... colonel."

          Vita stopped eating and looked at her with question.

-"What exactly?" 

          Paz looked at her for a moment not knowing if to say that or not. Finally she reached into her pocket.

-"This." - she said hesitantly.

          At the time Lyle, Zdinark and Fike entered the room. 

-"What the F*CK!" - she shouted scaring everyone.

-"What? What happened?" - Lyle asked while looking at them with surprise.

-"This b*tch pregnant." - she looked back at Paz.-" How long? And how the f*ck that happened?"

-"I-I don't know, maybe like week or two." - she tried to explained.

-"You don't remember when you had s*x, or you do it that often?" - Zdinark joined.

-"Never mind that but with whom?" - Fike added.

-"Quaritch, 'cause she don't have no one other to f*ck with." - Vita added sarcastically.

          Everyone sat down and after longer time of being quiet Lyle asked.

-"You told him?"

-"Not yet. I don't know if I should."

-"Let's just kill it and get over with it." - Vita stood up with knife in hand.

-"NO!"- everybody shouted and stood up to hold her back.

-"I thought you're on my side. Why are you like this?" - Paz asked in panic while holding onto her stomach.

-"I was but you're doing enough to lose me. You'll destroy this kids life! It's not place for having kids you idiot! Do you even understand why soldiers are not suppose to have kids and start family, even more on Pandora? You know why? Because it's F*CKING easy to die here. You're a pilot it's even easier. If you die you leave this thing without anyone!" 

          Everybody looked at her with surprise. They never seen her like that.

-"I'll have nothing to do with it. Don't even talk to me." - she said calmer and left.

          They were looking after her. Then they came back with attention to Paz.

-"Don't worry about that, she'll understand." - Fike started.

-"But you're sure about having this baby? She is kinda right about it." - Zdinark asked.

-"I don't know. But I want to have kids and I'm no sure if I could have any later, so why not to try."

-"Wow. We're ENTIRELY different. I would never." - Zdinark said while walking away with her coffee.

          Lyle were sitting in quiet and thinking what to do with it. He knew that Vita was right but at the same time he couldn't decide for Paz what to do.

-"At first lets just go to check if baby's ok. Then you'll decide what are you gonna do."

          They all went with Paz to med-bay. After quick ultrasound she decided to tell Quaritch about it.

          She went alone to his office. After walking inside he told her to sit down.

-"So? Something happened?" - he asked.

-"Well, I need to tell you about something important." 

-"What is it then?"

-"I'm ... I'm pregnant." - she said in a trembling voice.

-"And?" - he asked as he didn't get it.

-"It's yours."

           He stopped for moment trying to process what did she actually said to him.

-"You gonna keep it?" - he asked finally.

-"Yes."

-"I have nothing to do with it. You can leave now." - he said shortly and came back to his work.

-"Why? You can't just leave me and baby like this." - Paz stood up with tears in her eyes.

-"Oh, I can. It your decision and your problem. It's not place to have kids. You're a soldier, you should know that."

-"Vita said the same thing. Have a nice day colonel." - she turned around and left him alone.

          She went to her room and cried for longer time.

          At the time Vita went with Greace to the forest for new samples of some plants.

          After longer time of walking around in quiet Vita started the conversation.

-"You heard the news?"

-"About Paz? Yes, I did. Everyone gossip about it."

-"I don't understand why she want to keep it? That's the most stupid idea she ever had."

-"You wouldn't do that?" - Greace asked with light smile.

-"Of course not. I don't want to have kid, ever. They're pain in the a*s."

          She laughed at her respond.

-"Don't be so dramatic. Maybe it'll be better. She don't need to die, that's not the only fate for humans who have kids on Pandora."

-"Are you joking from me right now? Because I don't like it." - Vita crossed her arms and looked away.

          Greace just put her hand on her shoulder.

          They watched Taro playing in grass. He looked happy.

-"How big you think he'll get?" - Vita started again.

-"I don't know. But if he got some Thanator genes probably something in between."

          They spent few hours looking around forest and then came back to base on dinner.
