mike had lost el to the throng of people holding red solo cups. el said she was going to grab some food, losing mike in the process.

mike didn't really panic, he knew she could take care of herself. however, there was a distinct voice inside his head pressuring him to worry for her. the inseparable pair had been dating officially for three years now. mike and el were a very highly acclaimed couple, considering everything seemed so peaceful between them.

and even if they did get into an argument, they were able to resolve it immediately.

el started integrating into high school last year. generally, she enjoyed being in the shadows, away from the spotlight. due to her uncomfortable relationship with crowds and attention. but she's been finding immense improvement in herself lately, doing a good job of fitting in socially and academically. school has taught el that her area of weakness is math, but other than that, she picks up the other subjects pretty well.

and mike loved her. he had verbally confessed his longing feelings for her a year ago, during their sophomore year. lucky for him, el had said it back without any sign of hesitation or regret, despite the fact that she didn't really know what it meant. but he was sure that she knew now. mike loved and admired el for the tiniest things. one of these things being her silky brunette hair.

and he was searching for those beautiful brown locks now.

but all he saw were moving bodies and red cups. there was also rhythmic clapping. a kind of clapping that mike wasn't fond of.

suddenly, mike heard groups of people encouraging some drunk girl to dance on the table. mike rolled his eyes and scoffed, he turned his head towards the girl. those girls will really do anything for attention, he thought to himself.

it wasn't until a few seconds later mike realized that the girl dancing on the table was el. she was moving her arms and body seductively with respect to the music, a filled red cup clutched in her delicate hand. various groups of people loudly cheered her on as she danced, aimlessly wobbling over every now and then.

she was drunk.

mike's eyes widened as he roughly pushed himself through the crowd of people to reach his girlfriend. he couldn't help himself but send harsh glares to the boys that desperately wanted to make a move on el. mike reached out and grabbed el's frail wrist, trying to pull her off the table.

el smiled down at her boyfriend, her vision slightly blurred. "mikeeeee, oh my goddd. you won't believeeee what just happened. i just danced. it was awesome." she slurred, pushing several strands of loose hair out of her face. mike drew his eyebrows together.

"that's great," said a sober mike, "can you get off the table now?"

el shakily nodded, then winked, slowly getting down from the table. some of the boys around started booing, to which el responded, "sorry boysss, it's a one night only show. shhhh."

mike felt a hint of jealousy start to take over, but remained calm. his eyes widened again, "el." he cautioned her.

el just giggled, playfully clinging onto her boyfriend, "don't worry mike, i've got a special show for you." she winked, causing mike to evidently cringe.

mike ran his hands through his black tousled curls, putting his hands on el's shoulders shortly after, "stop winking. it's weird."

el smirked and took another sip from the red cup, "never! it's all part of the fun, my sweet." mike had no reaction to her flirty comment, plucking the cup from her hands.

she whined, "hey! that's the good stuff."

"no, it's not." mike replied, chucking it into the nearby trash can. "who gave it to you?"
