When to Speak and How

Remember, when you speak, you're only sharing what you already know. But, if you listen, you might learn something new.

You have two eyes and two ears, but only one mouth for a reason. So, unless it's important, don't talk more than your fair share in a group. Make sure your words are meaningful and useful.

Talking slowly has its benefits. Hurrying leads to mistakes and can lose the listener's attention. Keep your words clear and simple.

Try to avoid complaining, using bad language, and bragging as much as possible. Don't compare people, either to their face or behind their back, unless your intentions are good and well thought-out. If you must complain about someone, focus on their actions, not their personality.

Express gratitude to others for their help, but keep it brief. When you want to apologize, try to reframe it as expressing gratitude. People appreciate that more.

Reflect: Think before you speak.
