chapter seventy one: bye bye baby

Five had never liked it when he fought with his husband, neither of them but it always just left him feeling as if he was a total asshole and that that everything was inevitable lu his fault even when there were times when he wasn't even the one in the wrong. They rarely fought, with the exception of the past few weeks, and they liked to think that their relationship was fairly solid.

This one in particular had been the worst in the awhile, probably the worst since their breakup back at the Commission. Five was sure that he hadn't seen Anthony that upset ever, and it was actually hard to watch or even to think about for too long.

Seeing Anthony cry was always hard, but knowing that he was the cause was just that much worse as the guilt stayed present and fresh in his mind.

He wasn't exactly sure what to do about it; they didn't have long left before the kugelblitz would inevitably kill all of them. Five didn't entirely have time to apologize, and even if he did it would only last for so long before they'd be separated again.

Death was a scary thing, but the only thing making it manageable for him right now was the fact that he wouldn't go through it alone and that he would have his husband with him the entire time; if they could make up in time, that is.

Five walked down the hallway of the hotel, a bowl of cereal in one hand with his other hand lifting a spoon up to his mouth. He wasn't sure how long he had left, but he knew that his father was definitely hiding something, so maybe if he could just prove that to Anthony then he would forgive him before everything ended around them.

"What are you—wait, where's Anthony?" Viktor asked he approached his brother from behind.

Five turned around, "Let's just say he's not exactly my biggest fan right now," he muttered. "You know we didn't agree on the vote, he just took it a lot more personally than I had intended for him to."

"Okay, well what are you doing here then?" Viktor asked defensively. "Shouldn't you be with him right now? Before everyone ends around us?"

He shrugged, "I'm eating cereal and trying to retrace my steps," Five answered simply as if that was an excuse for his avoidance right now.

Viktor looked at him suspiciously, "Why?"

"The old man is hiding something," Five said before he turned away and started walking down the hall.

"Feels like there's a lot of that going around," Viktor commented as he looked around the room, placing his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket.

Five stopped and turned around again, "How do you mean?" he questioned.

"Allison apologized to me," Viktor replied.

"Okay?" Five asked. "And that's suspicious how?"

Viktor shrugged slightly, "Last night she was ready to go ten rounds with me at the wedding, and this morning it's all family and Dad and love," he explained. "I don't know, something must have happened last night but I don't know what."

Five had a sudden realization and looked up in shock as he dropped his bowl of cereal onto the floor; it landed and spilled all over the carpet. "It's Allison!" he exclaimed.
