3rd Person POV
it was iris's birthday and usually, when it's your birthday, you like to be celebrated and you like the attention on you but she didn't. after everything she just wanted to spend time on the phone with her friends or with Marcus or bullet or with Priscilla. she would rather be anywhere than at this stupid party that she didn't even want.
they were all doing it for their own benefit and she knew that. she knew that they weren't actually celebrating her. they were trying to get something for themselves and she knew that. so there iris was sitting in her room staring at the photo of her, reggie, luke, flynn and kansas as she tried to ignore the idea of celebrating
that was until maggie burst into her room with zoe, frank and rosie and she blew a confetti popper in her face and she blew it away from her face as she laughed and put a fake smile on her face
"happy birthday!" she exclaimed and iris sighed as she scuffed her feet against the floor and she smiled
"mom!" she said and she hugged her and made eye contact with zoe , who was pleading with her eyes
"how does it feel? the big 1-6?" she asked and iris shrugged
"not any different then when i was 15" she said and maggie chuckled as did frank
"it'll take a while to feel it" he told her and she nodded and smiled
"i remember it like yesterday. little girl, huge head of hair, big brain and a girl who knew what she wanted. you always knew" she said and then she handed a present to iris as she pulled it out and saw a necklace
"it's a bullet" she said and she smiled as she ran her thumb over it and then she noticed the royal purple gem
"and kansas state colors" maggie said and iris smiled as she wrapped her arms around her and held her closely. iris hated her birthday but in that moment she felt like it would all be okay. oh how her day was going to be horrifically ruined
"i love it mom. thank you" she said and she put it on before she looked at the others
"i'm going to go to the stables, i have some training to do and i want to see bullet. i'll see you guys later" she said and she left the house as she hugged rosie, zoe and frank. she kissed maggie's cheek and then she went to the stables. she walked in and she saw bullet and smiled
"hey boy. mom got this for me. it's you, i wish you could meet kansas, i think you two would be an amazing pair" she said and she grabbed bullets lead and saddle as she put it on him and lead him back out to the arena
