Aiden's pov

I carried Cassie in my arms towards the house, she was sleeping peacefully like an angel, but what hurts me is the consequence this angel is about to face because of their old stubborn thoughts. I would have somehow convinced myself if Vincent was single but I do know for a fact that Vincent loves Hazel. It hurts to even think how all the three lives are messed up right now.

I surely feel bad for Hazel. This morning that girl was happy as everyone agreed to her and Vincent's marriage and they even had plans for their wedding, but surely faith had its own plans, or may I tell our not-so-logical grandparents had some other plans. I always knew they didn't like Hazel but destroying her life along with Vincent and Cassandra's is not right.

"I do promise you, Cassie I will always do right by you and for sure I will do everything in my power to stop this marriage but give me some time" I murmured softly in her ears. I climbed the stairs and reached the door and it was open as well as I could see Vincent, his Mom and Dad were all there and were all tensed and Vincent was walking back and front with some paper in his hand. Hazel was sitting on one of the couches and was crying hysterically, Mom was trying hard to console her. Dad and Matteo uncle were looking through some papers and were on call. Nick was just sitting there scrolling through his phone.

With Cassandra in my arms, I slowly walked in with all eyes turned towards us. I placed her on the sofa. I sat next to Cassie's head and stroked her hair. Everyone surrounded us with worry in their eyes. "What's wrong Aiden, why is my baby like that, is she fine?" Mom asked. "Shall I call a doctor?" Dad asked.

"No Dad it's not necessary, she is fine but was too exhausted after everything. She just slept when we were in the car."

"Ohh my poor baby, shall I get her some dinner" Mom questioned and started moving towards the kitchen.

"No Mom she does not want to have anything; I did offer her to have dinner but she did not respond at all."

"Fine if she does not talk to us but let her have some food, as you told she is exhausted and needs some energy, moreover she didn't even have her lunch properly," Dad said and came and squatted next to Cassie.

"No Dad please don't wake her up or else she won't stop crying and blaming herself for everything that's happening. She even started to say it was a big mistake to come back."

"Nonsense, what's wrong with her? How can she blame herself, even if she didn't come back, all those people would have gone to the UK and told her. At least we are here for her. What does she think she would have done there all alone? She would have had the same end as Nina" Dad started to yell and Mom tried to calm him down.

There was a phone continuously ringing for the last 5 minutes and Cassandra started to stir in her sleep. Nick brought the phone to me and it was Ryan calling and there were already 20 missed calls, 50 messages and 10 voicemails.

I picked up the call and heard Ryan talking a huff of air in peace "WHAT THE HELL CASSANDRA KNIGHT??? IF YOU ARE DITCHING ME, YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME BUT" I cut him off "Hmm, sorry Ryan it's Aiden, Cassandra's brother. Cassie is actually busy and she forgot to tell you I guess, maybe she will call tomorrow".

Actually, I didn't want to disclose the things that happened here, as it was not my place to do so and I do feel he understood my words "Yeah ok Aiden, I was just scared for her. She called me here and ditched me without even answering her phone, so hmm I was worried for her but no problem I will deal with her tomorrow and thanks for the info or else I would have thought she ...., no it's ok. Thanks, bye"

I took Cassie to her room and I hope she will understand the complexity of the problem.

The next day went in a haze with everyone moving around the house in a hurry. Dad and I were working on the papers to get Cassandra and Vincent out of the situation. Mom was with Cassandra and aiding her and trying to comfort her but the girl would break down every hour at her own misery. Hazel just locked herself in her room and did not talk to anyone. All the maids in the house were busy preparing for the engagement party.
