"So where exactly are we Eda?" I asked in an annoyed tone as the three of us kept walking through the forest, passing by some of the weirdest-looking plants and creatures I've ever seen. I was already getting pissed off and Luz wasn't helping much in that department as she was trying her best not to go exploring and document this shit.

"Titan kid, do you not know how to chill, or do you permanently have a stick shoved up your ass?"

I snorted at her comment and kept my face forward as we almost made it to the clearing," When you lived the life we have, you don't simply 'chill' in public, especially in places that we don't deem safe yet. Let your guard down too soon and something will get you or someone."

Eda hums in agreement then looks over at my sister as she keeps looking around our surroundings, trying to get the jest of where everything is and how to mark the path we are taking.

I watch my little sister scamper around the different flora and fauna and take loads of pictures with her high-tech phone and mumbling to herself silently, but she always made sure to stay close by so that she could see me. She's always been the adventurous type especially when it's a new place she hasn't cataloged in her adventure journal. I can still remember the time we had to take a job in Japan and holy shit this girl went full nerd mode when we went to Akihabara.

Jesus, I was so happy that I was in charge of the money, or else she would've wasted it on Black Clover, Demon Slayer, and Dragon Force Z shit.

Anyway, Eda was looking at my sister with a curious look in her eyes as she watches my sister take pictures.

"So what's up with your sister?" She finally asks as she points towards the ball of nocturnal energy," I haven't heard a single peep out of her or even a sound for that matter."

I gave her a sideways glance and glared at her for a moment, waiting for her to say something negative about Luz but it never came. From the look in her eyes, she was genuinely curious and concerned about Luz and from how she was looking at me. She was curious and concerned about me too.

"Luz is deaf and has been for more of a decade. She started to lose her hearing from a young age but permanently lost it during an incident."

Eda's eyes widen at how casual I am telling her this about my sister but we're both used to people looking at us as strange weirdos or when they know who we are and stay away because of fear. No one wanted us as friends or anything not to mention most of the adults in our old town would tell their kids that we were psychos and that they should never associate with us in fear they would catch what we have.

Both Luz and I wore our faults, conditions, and differences like it was a badge of honor because it was an honor. Luz is a fucking genius with anything stem-related and weapons. In her words, she calls me the master of the human mind, body, and languages but most importantly I'm her strong big sister that will protect her when she's ever in trouble. I love my little sister, she's the reason I keep going and endure so much.

I must've zoned out for the rest of the walk because Luz tugged on my sleeve and pointed toward something that made her eyes widen in awe. I followed her finger and saw what made she was looking at.

It was a massive two-story tall house that was made with white bricks, a sloping blue roof, a massive orange and red stained glass window in the middle that looks similar to an eyeball with a massive crumbling tower behind it that was covered in some kind of orange moss.

This entire place gave off the whole 'Enter at your own risk' vibe and I kinda digging it and Luz was too as she saw just how big and distant the house was from anything and anyone.
