3rd Person POV
she ran to her cabin and she grabbed her guitar quickly as well as her songbook and she walked over to the dock. she sat down and crossed her legs as she set the guitar in her lap and she pulled the strap over her head. she started to strum lightly before she opened her songbook and leaned her head on her guitar
"look at the stars look how they shine for you and everything you do yeah, they were all yellow " ronnie started as she stared at her songbook and continued to play softly. she didn't hear the footsteps leading towards her nor did she notice nate lean against the railing as he listened to her softly play
he watched her fingers faintly strum the chords as he watched with a smile on his face
"hi" he whispered and she lifted her head as she looked up at him and stopped strumming
"nate? hi" she said
"can i sit?" he asked and she nodded
"i ugh yeah yeah" she said and she moved over slightly as he sat next to her and they looked at the water
"was that an original?" he asked and she nodded softly
"i yeah i wrote it about a friend" she started and he nodded before he turned and ran his thumb over her guitar
"you brought this with you?" he questioned and she nodded again
"yeah i use this guitar one everyone acoustic song and practically all of them. this is my baby" she spoke and he chuckled
"dont tell you named it" he said and she turned to him in shame
"hey first it's a girl and her name is venus" she said shamelessly and he threw his head back laughing as she laughed with him
"venus, huh? so i have competition?" he began and she shoved his shoulder
"shut up" she laughed and he chuckled
"does that song you were playing have a name?" he asked and she nodded
"yeah it's um yellow" she said and he smiled
"will you play it for me?" he asked and she smiled softly
"this stays between us nate, nobody can know i showed you this" she said and he nodded as he held his pinkie and she wrapped hers in his
"pinkie swear, sunshine now play it for me" he said and she nodded as she began to play it again and he watched with a smile on his face
"look at the stars look how they shine for you and everything you do yeah, they were all yellow " she started and he listened to her soft velvet voice with a smile on his face
"i came along i wrote a song for you and all the things you do and it was called yellow so when i took my turn oh, what a thing to have done and it was all yellow" she sang and she continued to strum as nate watched with soft smile on his face. she looked up at the sky and smiled softly as he took notice of the way the stars made her face glow and the way her smile brightened at the small things in the world
"your skin oh yeah your skin and bones turn into something beautiful and you know, you know i love you so" and a tear slowly drifted down her cheek as nate moved closer and he slowly wiped it off of her cheek as she smiled at him and noticed the tears in his eyes
"i swam across i jumped across for you oh, what a thing to do cause you were all yellow i drew a line i drew a line for you oh, what a thing to do and it was all yellow" she sang softly before nate caught on and he sang the next part with her softly
"and your skin, oh yeah your skin and bones turned into something beautiful but you know , for you i bleed my self dry for you i'd bleed myself dry" and she let her fingers strum faster and harder as he sang along with a sad smile
"it's true, look how they shine for you look how they shine for you look how they shine for look how they shine for you look how they shine for you look how they shine look at the stars look how they shine for you and all the things you do" they sang and she stopped strumming as she removed her guitar from her neck and she laid down on the dock. nate looked down at her before he laid down and turned his head to the sky
"do you think we made a mistake by doing this?" she asked and he turned his head to her confused
"us being on the dock?" he asked and she shook her head as she giggled softly
"no making this agreement with axel, i mean i heard what brown said" she whispered and she laid her hand down her side as nate looked at it
"he said something?" nate asked and she nodded
"yeah he um he said that i shouldn't have made this agreement after the rivalry and what i've gone through my career. he said he thought i was smarter than that" she exclaimed and nate scoffed
"you are smart ronnie, you're smart enough to know that this could go badly but that no matter what we are better then them. all they do is work, like you said it's summer camp" he said and he let his hand drift towards her
"yeah you're right" she spoke and she intertwined her fingers with his as they looked at the stars together
"but i am glad i met you, i just wish we had more time" he spoke and she nodded
"you still need to learn when to tell a girl about yourself, night nate" she said and she kissed his cheek as she got up and she left him alone on the dock
"idiot" he whispered to himself and she smiled as she walked away
he actually calmed her down
