It has been almost four months since I decided to be a Muslim because of MayMay but unfortunately, that didn't work out the way I wanted it to.

I changed for her and yet she isn't mine as she is supposed to be.

I am converting for her so that she could accept me but that didn't happen.

All I got from her was converting shouldn't be for someone but for me. I have no idea what she meant by this but all I knew is that I was hurt by her words.

Maybe she is right about doing something like this for me being better than doing it for someone else.

Today is the day I finally do it.

Convert to become a Muslim.

As I was heading towards the Masjid, I felt something in my heart telling me that what I am doing is the right thing for me.

"Hey, I am here for my appointment", I tell one of the men that were there.

He then directed me to where I was supposed to be. As I wanted to walk in, I felt a tap on my shoulder. When I turned to see who it was I was somehow shocked.

It was Jason.

MayMay's father.

What is he doing here?

That's the first thing that comes to mind. Before I could even get my answer, he explains.

"I am here to support you and to let you know that you can count on me in whatever you might need", he tells me.

"But...."

"I know what you are going to say, Rocco. Maya is and will always be there for you even if she doesn't tell you. And no I am not here for her. I am here because I was just like you. My mother supported me even though she didn't become a Muslim. I am here to support you as a father. That if you ever needed one", he says.

I couldn't help but smile knowing that MayMay is lucky to have Jason as her father.

I nod and walked in with Jason.

I took a seat in front of that Iman of the Masjid waiting to take the step that will make me happy.

Thank you, MayMay.

The Iman then directed me on what I should say and I said it while feeling lighter than I was before I came into the room.

"Alhamdullilah, you can keep your name or you can change it. That's your choice, my son", the Iman tells me after I shook his hand.

"Thank you", I tell him.

He nods at both Jason and me. He then walks out leaving us in the room.

"How do you feel?", Jason asks me smiling.

"Overwhelmed and free of everything that was holding me back...."

"I know the feeling. What are you going to do now?", he asks as he knew that it was one month to graduate.

"I learn about Islam and focus on myself. Then....."

"Return to MayMay. Yeah, I understand", he interrupts me smiling.

MayMay will always be in my heart and mind as she never left.

"If you ever need anything, my house is open for you. Plus, I know how much you mean to my family and if I didn't come here to be with you, my wife would have me sleep on the couch which I would much rather not do", Jason tells me laughing.

I couldn't help but laugh with him. Knowing Layla she would do what she sets her mind to.

"Thank you, sir....."

"Call me Jason outside school. And you are welcome".

In the next few days, MayMay and I have been treating each other as classmates and not best friends.

I don't want to lose her but what can I do to change that?

Maya's Pov.

Have you ever felt that you are going to lose someone who meant the world to you?

Have you ever felt that you are going to lose someone who meant the world to you?

That's what I have been feeling ever since Roc told me about what he was planning on doing. I know that I was a little bit harsh on him but what I told him was the truth.

He needed to do this for himself and not for me or anyone else.

I love him but I can't let him change his religion for me. In a month we will be graduating and then there's college.

I don't want things between him and me to change just because of his stubbornness.

Allah knows best.

Thankfully Luciana didn't bother any of us. I wonder why?

I have less than a month to get back to my best friend Rocco. No matter what I have to get him back.

But the question is will he forgive me?

But due to being busy with the finals, I know that it would be impossible for us to get together and talk.

He might be a bad boy but he is also a nerd who likes to read books.

How do I know this?

I am his best friend. Plus, I know I couldn't keep his diary forever even though I wanted to.

He has mine and I have his.
