"Have you people ever heard of manners?" I grumbled. Megan chuckled and Hazel ignored me. Hallelujah.

"She is in a shitty mood because she heard everybody talking about you and your ex. And she's still being a big baby over the other night" Megan relayed. Hazel growled loudly but keep her mouth shut.

"Figures" I sighed, much to Hazel's displeasure. "What does Riley want me for this time?"

"She wants Hazel to stop moping around-" Hazel just growled louder "oh stop your grumbling, would you? You'll give yourself a sore throat and stomachache" Megan rolled her eyes. Times like these it's just too weird that they have the same face. "She wants you to talk with her and she wanted Hazel to stop being immature and invite you over for dinner tonight"

"Megan!" Hazel hissed. "I told you, she is not coming into my house! I don't give a shit about what Riley tells me to do! It's my damn house!"

"Our house. I'm the only one who does anything to keep it livable" Megan groaned "and if you won't be the mature one here, I will. Grace, you're invited over for dinner and Hazel will behave or she is cleaning her own shit, making her own food, paying her own bills, managing her own shenanigans, and finding another driver. I deserve a break anyway"

"What?!" Hazel fumed. "You are not allowed to do that!"

"Hazel, darling, you can't cook canned soup without me babying you. Get your shit together, woman" Megan shook her head. Hazel actually looked like she was trying to glare her sister to death.

"She isn't coming and that is final" the second finally answered, voice cold as stone and just as apathetic.

"Hazel, when the hell are you going to learn that you're not the only person whose opinions matter?" I tried to become invisible, recognizing this as a sibling war and backing out of it. I knew not to get in the middle of these things.

"When there is a reason for me to listen, I will, but she is not allowed in my home!" I had a sudden flashback to the dream I had. It felt so long ago. Like hell I'd let her in now.

"I'm not going" I spat despite both my caution around raging siblings -sisters especially- and my usual level headed control over my voice. So much built up agitation seeped into my tone that I sounded almost as bad as Hazel.

I didn't know what bothered me more; that Megan seemed really pissed with me giving in, that I wanted them to challenge me and make me go over, or that the fact that Hazel's partial satisfaction with my declaration really, really stung. The latter was the most prominent. I hated how Hazel could make my whole chest ache with just her silence. Imagine how much words hurt.

"Put these on" Megan gave me blackout googles, still irritated.

...

"Take the googles off" Megan sound a lot less upset, but the edge in her voice still cut, and blunt blades hurt more.

"Come with me. Now" Megan was the one to grab my wrist this time. Her grasp was a lot more gentle than Hazel's, but the girl still had a grip.

I was pulled through the maze of gray tunnels and numberless doors until Megan dragged me into one.

"Riley! Help!" She shoved me into one of the seats and took the other. The ginger girl at the desk looked surprised to see Megan in her state and a look of understanding passed by her eyes. Then she was calmer.

"Yeah?" Riley prodded.

"She isn't coming to dinner. And I'm sick of Hazel being snappy. I tried to invite her, but she refuses to oblige. I need Hazel to stop with this before she gets desperate" Megan ran a hand through her midnight black hair, her expression gave her this disheveled aura.
