After waiting the whole week -and ignoring Hazel every time she texted me to make sure I hadn't touched the feather, which I definitely had if for no other reason than to spite her- Megan (since I had been unresponsive to anything Hazel had sent) finally texted me to tell me that they were out of lockdown and she'd drive me to her house after school so Hazel would talk to me. I'd agreed because my house had nosey parents.

"Grace" Hazel's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I'd been waiting in the school's lobby for the last thirty seconds, since it was the end of the school day and- I already explained this. I'm going to her house and can't drive.

"What's with the weird looks you've been giving me all day?" I insisted immediately. She signed and started walking out. "Hazel!" I groaned. She'd been eyeing me weirdly all day, and she'd avoided having to spend time with my group (not that I really minded). I mean, every time today I caught her watching me -which was a surprisingly high number of occasions- she'd be looking at me like I grew an extra head or something.

"I'm not going to answer that so stop asking" she sighed.

"Can you please not be a complete jerk for like seven hours?"

"I'm doing you a favor by telling you anything about me at all, if you're not going to respect the amount of trouble this could cause then you're not worth the trust or time I'm sacrificing" she snapped back.

"Kill me now" I hissed under my breath.

Megan was waiting outside the school in her car, looking from me to Hazel suspiciously.

"Hey, Grace" the elder ebonette greeted me while Hazel rolled her eyes once again and sat herself in the front passenger seat.

"Hey, Megan" I replied, taking out my phone and earbuds.

"Oh no you don't" Megan smirked before I could put in the devices and tune out Hazel's constant bothering. Just her presence makes me want to punch her in the face half the time. The other half... Oh, look, a distraction...

"Why?" I pursed my lips.

"Because I need details. Micha was too busy to talk last week, so I need you to tell me what happened"

"Okay, what do you need to know?" I asked, sighing again as I put my stuff back into my bag and listened to Megan.

"Did Micha tell you any of the signs she saw of Alexa, other than the feather and note?" she began. Hazel rolled her eyes and stared at the window, blocking out the world.

"She said that the yard smelled like her, but it was from earlier that day" I scowled, trying to remember Micha's exact words, but falling short.

"Okay, anything else? Footprints-" Megan started, but a humorless chuckle from Hazel interrupted her.

"She wouldn't leave footprints" the raven haired girl hissed with enough venom to make a cobra seem like a mere piece of string.

Megan cleared her throat to silence her sister, who just shook her head, sighed, and resumed her observation of the passing scenery. Was it just me or was she acting more negative than usual? How does she live just being so stiff all the time? Someone should really just get the girl a joke book or something...

"Excuse her... She's been in a mood for the last week" Megan gave a half disapproving, half pitiful sigh. Hazel, in return, growled a little in her throat. "Stop growling, would you?" She added teasingly, but in the same kind of sad mocking tone Marley uses on me when I need a pick-me-up. "As I was saying..." she gave her sister one last half hearted glare "We can use all the information we can get our hands on, and you're the best source I have access to"
