" When I saw you first, it took every once of me not to kiss you. When I saw you laugh,
it took every ounce of me not to fall in love. And when I saw your soul- it took every ounce of me."
- Atticus

Lex watched and listened to 'Mike' as he interrogated one of the Russians' men. Lex was standing in the corner of the building diagonally behind 'Mike' and whoever his new friend was. Claire, maybe? Lex was slightly surprised that no one had noticed him, maybe 'Mike' did notice him and didn't say anything.

Anyhow, 'Mike' was trying to figure out where the Russians were hiding the boy they kidnapped.

Maybe it's because Lex has experience in both being interrogated and interrogating but, he thought 'Mike' was kind of bad at it. Lex made a mental note that if they ever interrogate someone together Lex would do the brunt of it.

'Mike' cut the cable holding up the guy and proceeded to hold the guy dangerously over the edge of the building.

"This is important. Shh! Listen, I need you to know why I'm hurting you, it's not just the boy. I'm doing this 'cause I enjoy it," 'Mike' told the guy as he pushed him further off the building.

That was a lie, 'Mike' did not enjoy this, Lex could tell that from miles away.

"No, no, no!" The guy wailed.

"Where is he," 'Mike' asked. "Where is he?!"

The guy broke, "Underneath Trokia restaurant, eleventh and forty-forth!"

'Mike' pulled him back over the edge.

"They'll be waiting for you, if you're lucky they'll kill you before they start in on the boy." The Russian chuckled. "It would be a shame for you to have to watch what they do to him-"

'Mike' threw him off the building, Lex grinned slightly at that, because if 'Mike' didn't do so Lex would have shot the guy.

"Oh my god!" The person with 'Mike' cried.

Lex sighed, everyone's so sensitive.

He waited until 'Mike' and Claire finished their conversation, he was slightly offended when 'Mike' said that he'd stop by Claire's if he needs to be patched up again.

Lex is perfectly good as patching up 'Mike', what does he need her for?

God, that sounded jealous. I hate that.

'Mike' walked in Lex's direction and he got close enough to he spoke, "I'm guessing you heard all that."

"Yeah, you wanker," Lex grumbled. "Why you need her to patch you up, I do just fine."

"Were you gonna find me in the dumpster?" He asked.

"I did find you but so had Claire and I didn't feel like causing a scene," Lex defended himself.

"Let's go save the boy," 'Mike' stated, jumping down the apartment complex.

Lex followed him.

——

'Mike' and Lex silently walked through the basement of restaurant Trokia. Lex trailed slightly behind 'Mike', they both could hear voices coming from a room. They stood outside of the room for a few seconds.

"Boy is isn't there," 'Mike' muttered to Lex.

"We take out these guys and then find the boy?" Lex asked, just as quiet.

'Mike' nodded.

With that the pair entered the room, unsurprisingly, and instantly they got attacked by the men inside.

One of the men who were sitting at the table shot at them, missing. Lex closed the door and punched the guy closest to him, 'Mike' was already dealing with someone else. Lex threw the guy who he punched into the door, knocking it off its hinges.

Someone came to investigate only to have 'Mike' throw a microwave at his head, knocking him out. Lex let out a quick laugh at that.

I mean, who expects a microwave to get thrown at their head?

Lex noticed a man with a shotgun leave the room, Lex threw the guy who he was fighting out of the room and then followed the man with a shotgun out of the room. He grabbed the shotgun from the guy and hit him in the head with it. The man was unconscious.

Two other Russians came out of the room, one tried to shoot Lex but missed. Lex kicked the one with a gun in the face and knocked him out cold.

Somehow, together, 'Mike' and Lex managed to incapacitate all the Russians in a few minutes.

"We make a great team," Lex panted.

"The boy is at the end of the hall," 'Mike' said, ignoring Lex's comment.

Lex frowned at the lack of response.

'Mike' took off his mask as he walked to the end of the hallway, Lex did the same thing, removing his mask and putting it in his pocket.

When 'Mike' entered the room and spoke to the boy he used a gentle voice, "Hi. I know you're scare but we're here to help you. Okay?"

"You don't have to be scared anymore," Lex added, with a soft smile and a similar gentle tone.

The boy nodded.

'Mike' smiled and picked him up, "Let's get you home to your dad."

Lex smiled slightly to himself and headed out of the restaurant with 'Mike' and the child.

——

'Mike' and Lex had returned the boy to his father and now sat next to each other on the roof of a building.

They didn't speak to one another, they just sat, overlocking Hell's Kitchen.

"Matthew."

"What?" Lex asked.

"My name is Matthew."

"Oh, mine's Lex."

Matthew nodded.

It was silent again, for a few moments.

"We do make a good team," Matthew said.

Lex smiled, "We do."

Matthew stuck his hand out, for a handshake, "Partners?"

Lex took his hand, "Partners."

Matthew and Lex smiled.

"No killing when we're working together though."

"Oh come on!"

Matthew laughed lightly at Lex, it was a laugh that you could listen to forever. It soft but beautiful and so genuine. It made Lex's heart skip a beat.

Lex couldn't help but join Matthew.
