       Lucy's POV:

I went to find some cider.

Goodness, he fell asleep under my favorite tree.

I considered all the possibilities of what might happen to him while he slept.

What if aliens abducted him?   They might.

Nah, they would have to be stupid to bother with the likes of him.

Oh, I know zombies could attack and cart him off.

I know none of those things were likely to happen.

I could imagine it.    I  wished a girl would ruin him as he had ruined my life.

I stomped off before he could wake up.

I  looked around at several trinkets offered by the locals.

Most of them were far too expensive for my taste.

I saw the mayor as he approached the large podium.

"The moment you all have been waiting for has arrived.  Now let the festivities begin."

I  swallowed the last of my glass of cider.

I should have brought a better pair of shoes, I thought.

I smiled as my father showed off the strawberries he had brought for the occasion.

I  took notice as many others did the same.

It was quite the crowd there.

   I approached the tree.

  I sat beneath it.

Not beside him, but on the opposite end of the roots.

I shook off my shoes and climbed the tree.

I did not care if it was unladylike.    What was the use in being a lady when your ex was here?

I saw my ex walk past with his newbie.

To think this time last year it was me with him.

I felt bitter about it. How could I not with the cruel way he had dumped me as if I were a thorn, an unwanted tree branch, or something?

I  fumed from my place in the tree.

I heard Morgan wake up. Great, I hoped he did not see me up here.
