A/N: While walking to church earlier today, I was transfixed by a wonderful scene before me: a single star shining in the twilit sky. I found it really romantic, the fact that I could still see the star even though dawn was breaking. And because I'm weirdly meditative at the slightest provocation, I came up with this. Enjoy. =)
PS: I wish I'd taken a picture. I would have loved to show it to everyone!
The sun to show itself begun;
I saw the rosy light again.
And then, I knew the night is done –
A hope has come anew to men.
But ere the blazing rays of gold
Could part the gray and dismal clouds,
I saw a star – so lone, so bold!
That coming light can’t yet enshroud.
I wondered what the omen meant
Or whether ‘tis a call to me,
To whom her dreams were heaven sent:
Is this a sign of what to be?
For, like that frosty, lonely star,
I struggle here to bring forth light
Against the growing glow that mars
And so obscures my cherished fight.
In seeking answers, turn I did –
To look again upon the star.
I sought in vain! My guide was hid –
To me was lost – so very far!
But soon I came to realize
That through this passing, brighter light
Upon the darkened earth will rise,
To help in setting wrongs aright.
So then I smiled, my goodbyes bade
To where I stood. For in the sky
So many stars would rise and fade –
And in my dreaming, so shall I.
For so I know that what I do
Will be forgotten in the time
When others come; a stronger hue
Would blot my traces left, sometime.
To light a fire, I’d happy be --
Awhile with it, the darkness pierce,
Until the time my soul is free
And hope again would born be here.
