CHAPTER FORTY

point of view | yasmine alaoui

...

my heart was pounding as his green eyes glues to mine. he was reading me, it felt like. it was as if this moment was like i was opening my mind to him. he stared at me and behind his eyes i caught ( A VIBE ) a feeling of immense lust. i bit my lip, eyes everywhere but on zayne. then he moved closer with those eyes that look so deeply into my own.

"you look lovely." he said softly.

"thank you," i answered him.

i tilted my head up to look at him. his hands slid up my forearms to where he held my chin, his fingers stretching down to my neck. he pulled my face out a little and neared his face towards mine. my heart was erratic and that moment reappeared. everyone and everything in the room faded back and all that was here was him. his nose gently bumped mine before i felt my eyes naturally flutter close. his lips were gently and warm as they my own. it felt like every cell in my body melted at the lustful feeling of kissing him. he pulled me closer, his lips pressing harder against mine. there was something so heavenly about this kiss. it was a tender moment that was even better than the ones i would write in my stories. it is that burst of love that is expressed; a connection that shows the strength of our feelings for one another; our mutual need. the sound of our lips pulling apart made my eyes flutter open.

he hummed quietly, his hum coming from the depths of his throat.

before i could take a second breath again or fully take in what happened, he kisses me again. drowning me and my heart in his lips. his grip on my face was gentle, his thumb reaching up to caress my cheek. jus as quickly as he kissed me he pulled away from me. still a nervous mess i held his hands. his bottom lip sunk between his teeth for a heartbeat before his teeth flashed; smiling at me.

"thank you for taking me here tonight." he said quietly.

i smiled and my breathing became softer at the sound of his voice. the pensive look of mine melting into a happy one. my body squirmed just a little as my muscles relaxed better in his arms. there is something about that gaze of his i will never find in another man, as if in that moment our hearts made a bridge. he shot me a look that was all lust, just the right hint of softness, a crease at the corners of his alluring eyes. he wrapped his arms even closer around me in that moment i let my head rest upon his chest. all my thoughts stopped as if my heart took over my head when we were close. he squeezed me close as if he needed to check i was really there with him. and im glad i really was.

"what time is it?" he asks me pulling away looking away and above my head somewhere behind me.

"i- um-," i stammered blinking twice, "i dont ..."

"shit," he cursed then meeting my gaze, "i made us reservations. we should head out know, yeah?"

"oh." was all i managed to say; still stunned and dazed from our kiss we shared.

he tugged on our holding hands and walked us out of the crowd of people. i stumbled on my heels as his fingers interlocked with mine.

"he always did that," i observed, "pretending to not be fazed. there was no way i was loosing my shit and he wasnt."

i caught up to his side and looped my arm with his as we stepped out into the chilly evening. the fall breeze blew my hair behind my shoulders. i felt the hairs on my body stick up from the sudden change in temperature. zayne stepped down the side walk on to the parking lot and i trailed a step behind him. my eyes zeroed in on his car now 5 spaces away. the headlights flashed as well as a beep meaning he unlocked his car. i dropped his hand as he opened my door for me.

my laugh sounded, echoing through the school parking lot, "thank you."

his smiled followed when i began to slowly sit in the car, lifting up my train of a dress so it wouldnt get stuck by the now shutting door. i watched his hand rub against the side of his face; his neck was beet red. the flush ran to his ears. i laughed.

"i knew it." i smiled to myself.

he opened his door and slowly sat in, "you good?"

i nodded, still smiling when i turned to look at him. he smiled back and pressed start on the car which then roared to life.

"where are we going?" i asked and he extended his arm onto the shoulder of my seat and looked behind him out the back window.

his jaw was clenched and his brows were furrowed all due to his focus. his palm turned the wheel; backing us out of the parking spot. he sat down better and slowly removed his arm and faced the wind shield.

"say it one more time," he said putting on his seat belt and stepping on the gas a little, "i was- not- i was backing out ..."

i put my set belt on too repeating the question for him, "where are we going?"

"mmm," he hummed turning on his blinker, leaving the schools parking lot leaning forward looking to his left, "cant say."

"what?" i scoffed and he laughed, "why not?"

"mmm," he hummed again, "cant say."

"you dickhead!" i cried laughing.

his laugh sounded in response, "sorry, habibti. if i tell you then you'll get mad at me."

( translation : my love. )

"habibti." i repeated in my head sinking into my seat.

"you better not take me to somewhere nice." i warned him.

he laughed again and smiled at me.
