CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT

point of view | yasmine alaoui

...

"you asked him to homecoming?" valeria asked with her jaw hanging open.

i smiled and nodded at her. she shut her jaw and the bus jerked forward taking us out of the bus port.

"why are you shocked?" i questioned eyeing her.

"she could be so weird and DRAMATIC at times." i noted laughing to myself.

"i mean yasmine alaoui asked out a BOY to homecoming," she stated as if to put it into the universe in case i was lying, "MY BEST FRIEND ASKED A BOY TO A DANCE?"

i thinned my lips to a line and flared my nostrils for a moment, "im offended you think so lowly of me."

"i mean this is a miracle!" she cried fanning her face, "i might shed a tear!"

i giggled, "he thought i was joking at first. he didnt believe me."

"i mean with yo fine ass i'd second guess too." she winked at me after stating her sentence.

i smiled and flipped my curls of hair with my hand.

"hehehe," i laughed, "nah. but i am excited."

"GUYS!" valeria yelled and a few seniors on our bus turned to look at her, "yasmine has a date to hoco!"

most of them turned around with no reaction while one dude pouted his lip SURPRISED. THE AUDACITY! as if he doesnt have a glacier of skin sitting on his face for a forehead!

"did i have a bad rep? " i scoffed to myself.

"lovely to see such compassionate classmates among our class of seniors." i commented blandly.

valeria snorted, "such enthusiastic behavior. such a blessing to be a bus filled with emotion and love!"

"so true, so true." i added with a shake of my head.

"no but are you getting a dress?" she asked me, "i know you arent the dress type."

"pfft!" i scoffed, "i DO have a dress."

"you already had plans?" she asked me with a raised brow.

"i mean i told my mom i was going with zayne." i sighed quietly.

she cooed wiggling her fingers, "someone is confident."

i parted my lips to argue but didnt, "i am."

"as you should be," she stated with a wink, then proceeded to ask, "what color?"

"red." i answered.

"oooo," she fawned, "you do look good in red."

i smiled thinking back to zaynes words.

"God, he was something else sometimes." i thought dreamily.

"are you going to homecoming?" i asked her and she smiled.

"yes of course!" she said excitedly, "i have to see you there! you're gonna look ... zwina!"

( translation : beautiful )

i laughed loudly at her oddly good attempt at moroccan arabic.

"yessir!" i cried and we shared a good laugh before someones voice ruined the vibe.

"can you guys shut up?" a voice further ahead asked.

"who?" i asked confused.

he looked over the seat, "yo-"
