CHAPTER THIRTY

point of view | zayne ali

...

"we have a busy week." yasmine stated walking with me through the lunch room. i was holding my salad box and a free cookie i got because it was my birthday.

"we do." i agreed with her. she twisted her torso dodging a freshmen.

"im so excited." she said smiling at me.

i laughed, "me too."

"i needa snap valeria and tell her ima be going home with you today." she said pulling out her phone from her back pocket.

i pushed and held the door open for her. i draped my left arm over she shoulder guiding her so she wouldnt run into anyone while texting on her phone. usually i was hesitant to do things like this with her, but i was really beginning to get comfortable.

"and i wasnt that scared about it," i thought confidently, "none of my other friendship ever lasted this long. no one else went this far to talk to me."

she looked up from her phone and reached her left hand up to hold my left hand. she interlocked our finger and i smiled at her.

"you still down for saturday?" i asked her. she looked up at me. i she dropped my hand and i dropped my arm opening the school doors for her.

"of course." she answered me.

"oh and my card if actually coming in today after school," i told her, "we can like i dont know chill there for a bit then head out if you want."

"but wait," she said as we walked down the hallway way towards the stair case leading to the library, "im paying for every thing thing tonight."

"yasmine-" i began but she hushed me with a jab with her elbow in my gut.

we started up the stairs and she crossed her arms eyeing me, "its YOUR birthday."

"i KNOW." i answered her and she fought back a smile trying to keep an angry face.

"then let ME take you out." she answered me

"im paying for EVERYTHING tomorrow." i stated.

"ooooKAY." she huffed and i let a laugh slip out on accident.

"NOT funny." she huffed.

we reached the top of the stairs, "why are you mad that i wanna pay for you?"

"because i wanna pay for you," she said throwing her arms up, "i wanna give you a good birthday."

i let myself smile at her, "you remembering is good enough for me."

"its not!" she protested as we turned for the library. i pulled open the doors for her and she walked in i followed after her as she continued.

"what if instead of shopping on saturday we jus do that today?" i asked her as we approached the back of the library where we usually sat.

she paused for a moment as i pulled out her chair for her. i watched her blink twice before taking a seat.

"well," she huffed, "you're right we could do that."

i chuckled, "you good?"

"sometimes i dont think things through," she told me, "alright we can head to the mall then ill take you out to dinner."

"wait-" i started but she placed her hand on my thigh silencing me.

"please?" she asked, "dont argue."

"okay." i answered her knowing damn well id pay her back.

...

"one time i ran a mile and had to take a shit," she stated and i busted into laughter while closing my now empty salad box, "terrible idea. dont recommend."

"why didnt you shit before?" i asked her and she shrugged.

"no clue," she sighed, "that was last week."

i shook my head chuckling, "body sculpting?"

she nodded.

"the name is stupid." i commented and she giggled.

"you're stupid for thing it was an art class." she countered.

"in my DEFENSE!" i argued, "the class is listed only for females so i had no clue what it even was. for dudes it wasnt even listed when scheduling your classes."

"oh really?" she questioned, "i nearly signed up for weight training."

i widened my eyes feeling slightly angered at the thought of a bunch of foot ball, basket ball, and baseball dudes sharing a class with her.

"oh God," i laughed, "that would have been awkward."

"i would take the zero and do nothing but sit in the corner." she huffed.

i laughed, "oh i found an even better website to watch death note on."

"ooo!" she cooed excitedly, "slide that shit."

i pulled out my phone and she scooted her chair closer to me and leaned her head on my shoulder. i used my left arm to hold up my phone while she trailed her fingers along my forearm. she traced her finger over my scars near my wrist. my stomach began churning as well as my heart began thumping.

"please dont ask." i prayed.

she lifted up my arm and bent it towards and placed a gentle kiss on the discolored lines of skin caused by blades. my entire body went hot. she kissed my palm then interlocked our fingers and laid her head on my shoulder again and resting out holding hands on her thigh. i felt her looked at me as i pulled up the website.

"this is th-the one." i told her handing her my phone.

she took it from my hand and took a screen shot of it and air dropped it to herself. she released my hand sitting up and taking her phone accepting the air drop. she set her phone down then handed mine back looking at me with a smile.

"i watched the first few," she told me with a smile, "i like it so far! i like ryuk a lot. hes so creepy, but i really like him."

i smiled at her and she blinked dreamily at me for a long moment, "what part are you on?"

"ummm," she thought tapping her chin, "light killed the fake L on tv."

"ahh," i said nodding my head with a smile, "its gets so good. i know you'll like it."
