I woke up early the day of the gala. It was a few days after Sokka, my brother, came for a visit. He was hanging around the fire lord and the prince all the time, which meant Suki was around him at all times. I felt safe leaving my brother with her, but I assumed he would try to talk them into firing me and giving me a position I deserve, being the chief's daughter. I tried to follow them all day the day of the gala, but I wasn't so lucky.
"what are you doing? Azula is furious, she wants a bath, and someone to brush her hair in the water" Mai caught me looking at my brother. I looked at her and fixed my dress.
"can you watch my brother and make sure he doesn't say anything about me?" I asked, my hands clapped over my chest as I begged her. she looked at me, surprised.
"why?"
"He might get the fire lord to fire me, and I need that job" Mai smiled bitterly and sighed.
"fine, but you have to tell Azula that I'm with Zuko today"
"of course, thank you" I darted off to Azula. I stopped and turned around, Mai walked towards the prince and kissed him, He introduced her to Sokka. I smiled and turned back, running as fast as I can to Azula's room.
